I bet you've walked thru airport security tons of times. Most people in the civilized world have. But few have been on the other side, telling people to take off their belts, army boots and steel helmets before going thru the metal detector.

When I ask people to remove these metal items for the obvious reason that the detector might beep when they walk thru, I often get hit with the old cliche...

But this belt usually does not make it beep, these shoes do not have metal in them, I have my pockets full but no metal is in there etc.

In at least 50% of the cases, the portal gives off a loud beep anyway, and the passenger is freaked out and he or she can not understand why this happened, when they wore that belt, or those shoes when they walked thru a portal somehwere else in the world. You may have noticed this yourself.

Of course, when the passenger then loses the belt/shoes whatever, he or she will go thru with no problems... boy is that strange rofl.

Anyways, do you know of something clever to say when a passenger refuses to lose a big belt buckle or a pair of shoes with metal toes?

It is a nobrainer that everyone should do as asked no matter what, but you know how it is.

Well this is some what of a smartass answer, but I would say "Hey if ya wanna fly just go along with the game" I hear it all the time from TSA personnel how soon do people forget.

This is America and you absolutely have freedom of choice.  The choice is whether or not you want to get on the plane, if you do, then you will submit to our security measures.  If you choose not too, have a nice day.
