Posted 7 months ago I started this group because I know how hard it is been a teenager looking to get all of the information needed to get a jump start on your career. I'm 17 myself and will be going to Basic Combat Training during the summer. I took 3 yrs. of Army JROTC and loved every bit of it. I would still be in it had I not had family obligations that other than failing, which failure is not an option for me, required me to drop out. If you are still in school I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to join the military. Not only do you get to join as an E-3 PFC, which is around about $500 more per month than an E-1 would make, but you get to learn and experience some of the duties you would in the military. From learning basic marching to leading a company march. It is also a way to stay active and further help your community. This group is for further educating young people on what they need to do, and their options in the military and police force. Any information from veterans is greatly appriciated. I created this group keeping in mind the JROTC mission: Motivating young people to become better citizens. Hooah! |

| Posted 4 months ago I started my law enforcement career in 1980 when I joined the US Army at 17 years old, the ole Sergeant tried to tell me be something else there a better future I stuck to my guns and became an MP. I did a two year tour and went to work in the Sheriff's Office, something that I wanted to do since I was young. The military helped me solidify and gave me some training toward what I wanted to become. When I finished active duty I went into the Air Force Reserves, because it was closer to my house and the Air Force treats their people better. 26 years later and I still love the job, if anyone needs any advice or questions contact me, I love mentoring because if I did not have some good mentors I would not be where I am Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway - John Wayne |

| Posted 2 months ago Joined army in1976, was originally in Signal corp, then ojt to mp after they took hostages in iran. only got out, because after marrying another active duty, we became parents, and uncle sam at that time wasn't happy with pregnant active duty, married or not. understandable due to circumstsnces of cold war, etc., anyway, i always kept current with friends, service career nonwithstanding, and heartlily recommend active duty for everyone nowadays. great start for anyone, and the opportunities are endless. even if you decide not to stay for 20, you gain so much from the experience. Have son getting ready to go air force, air traffic control, couldn't be prouder. two older daughters were 4 year ROTC, one took purple heart award as a freshman. never lost love for the service, and now three grandkids are hearing about when grandma and both grandfathers were in the army. |

| Posted 2 months ago I joined the Army in 2002, and I have yet to even think twice about the decision I made. The Army provided me very interesting experiences such as Airborne training and Protective Services school. Also, don't think twice about volunteering to go to schools, they will only help you in the long run. I think being in the Army gives you the confidence that college education doesn't, besides the Army will pay for college anyway. You will meet tons of great people and make a lot of great friendships that will last forever. Good Luck! |
