Posted 2 months ago No education is a waste of money! However, I believe that a Criminal Justice degree does little as far as getting the academic issues addressed if you hope to be a supervisor or manager. I have a criminal justice degree, saw its' shortcomings then I went back and picked up my masters in personnel management. If you haven't started your secondary education I would recommend that you look towards taking classes in business, management, IT, or something that you could use not only in law enforcement but outside the career. Now, your department may not give you any funding if it (classes) aren't directly related to your career so that's a consideration as well. Best of luck!

Posted 2 months ago It certainly isn't a waste of time to get educated. A lot of depts are requiring or prefer degrees now. They will promote officer with degrees before ones that do not have them. Several depts will also pay for you to get your degree. Educating youself is never bad. Of course, the degree will never replace the academy, but it's not intended too.

Posted 2 months ago No education is a waste of time or money, However, you will learn a lot about criminal justice in the academy and on the job. It is not a bad degree to get. i will have mine in sep but i would say if you have a chance pick another degree.
