We just got our new 08 Harley Road Kings with the fly-by-wire throttles on em. I personally don't like them for what we do. I need the throttle to do what I tell it to do, not what the computer thinks it should do. We'd like to see Harley go back to the cable controlled throttles for the '09's or retrofit the '08's on the police models. (Wishful thinking)

Any other motor guys have similar experiences or thoughts on this?

I didn't think that Harley had come that far yet. We were late deciding if we were bringing the bikes back after a year off and the dealer had to track down two '06's that he hadn't been able to sell. Is there an issue with the throttle response and can it be reprogrammed?

As time has gone on we've gotten somewhat used to it. I have no idea if they can be reprogrammed or not. It is not a good feature for LE but they don't really build them for us do they? One local agency has had it with Harley and is looking at BMW's. Betwwen the problems last year with starters and compression and now this, Harley might be building their own coffin with American LE.

Haven't really had much of a chance to play with mine yet, since I have been off work for 3 weeks. I did manage to put 140 miles on it, and had no problems with the throttle. Now, the ABS brakes took some getting used to, but, they are a live-saver!
