A Philadelphia Mosque is denying a Muslim burial for the suspect who allegedly shot and killed a Philadelphia police officer

  

GERMANTOWN - May 8, 2008 (WPVI) -- A mosque in Germantown has refused to conduct funeral services for Howard Cain - the man who allegedly fired the shot that killed Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski.

Cain was shot and killed Saturday by police who were pursuing him for Liczbinski's murder and a bank hold up.

Police say Cain, 33, drew a chinese-made SK rifle and fired shots at Stephen Liczbinski, fatally wounding the officer. A second suspect, 38-year-old Levon Warner, was arrested and later confessed.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet! Finally, a sound and sane decision made regarding the radical extremists who inhabit religion.  Kudos to this Mosque and its Imam for making the right decision and not justifying the actions of  this POS cop-killer by allowing him a full Muslim funeral service.  We need more stands like this one. I hope that this POS cop-killer burns in HELL. And his cohort, Floyd, soon follows.

Charlie I think you're right.  It is nice to see though 

Nice to see there are still people around who have more than half a brain and are willing to take a stand for what they believe is right.  No doubt they are going to take a lot of flack for what they've done, but they obviously made a choice they are willing to stick with.  Good on them for doing what's right.

He violated the tennants of Islam, he should be denied the a funeral.  All other religious groups should take note of this, the next time one of their flock decides to kill a Cop!

My guess is that they were in fear of the political ramifications if they did sanction a funeral for him. They are trying to minimize the public perception the Muslims are "bad" people...

Me too. I am sure this is very much a political decision for them. What they need to do is stop recruiting new members from the prisons.

I'm Muslim and believe I need to clarify some of the common misconceptions stated by a couple of people on this board who don't fully understand Islam:

1.  The mosque did NOT do this for political reasons.  It is a sin in Islam to kill unless it's in a) self defense and  b) required for one's own survival and it is not uncommon to deny murderers certain burial rights. 

This leads me to :

2.  Terrorists and those idiots in jail are NOT and I repeat NOT Muslim.  They're wannabe's.  Many of the so-called "converts to Islam" in jail are members of the Nation of Islam, which is also NOT Muslim - rather they are nothing more than a clique for jailbirds to cling to so they won't get jacked up by all the other racial or ethnic cliques.

3.  What's more (as pertinent to this story) is that Islam is a warrior's religion and does not take kindly to the killing of warriors who maintain and fight for law and justice (cops).

Just in case anyone thinks they need to apologize (because I get that a lot), you don't have to -- I know it's a simple misunderstanding due to a combination of extra negative media attention on Islam combined with the actions of those misguided terrorist s#!tbirds overseas :-)

It's possible, but it's still a good move/gesture on their part.  I have muslim friends who have been outraged at what has happenned to the good officer and agree with  the actions of the mosque.  I say KUDOS!

for whatever reason the mosque denied that POS a funeral...MUCH RESPECT FOR THAT......but i think if you kill anyone let alone a COP you should be hanged and get no funeral no matter what kind of religion you practice...
