Alright first Marky you need to follow the instruction and post in the Introductions Forum before making any other post.

Now why would that hurt you?

Well if you are 18 and trying to work at the jail thats fine.  If you are 35 with no work history and you weren't in school that would be bad.  Be sure to post in introductions and complete your profile so that I will know more about who I'm talking to.

Mark If you were paid cash or check whatever it has no bearing as long as you filed your taxes on the income. If you were working in a self owned business I'm sure that business can be looked at. Even if it was your dad get him to give a letter of recommendation. Think about it , How many young people worked on the family ranch or farm?

Did you receive a W-2 form for tax puposes or did you get a 1099 form, if you were paid "Off the Books", you will have a problem accounting for your time when not in school.
