There was a question of whether this is a position in forensics or not. It sounds very interesting. If anyone has any information regarding how to get started in forensic psychology could you please post some information for me to check into? Thank you.

Yes Forensic Psychology is a real field, I am now in the process of finishing my first Forensic Psych class online through the Saint Leo's University as an elective because I needed additional credits to graduate.  In my opinion Forensic Psych is a great field depending on which field you want to enter will depend on the level of degree you will need to obtain.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

How is it different then from criminology psychology? I have become very interested in the criminal psychology field, but would be interested in how it is applied to forensics.

criminological psychology n. A field of applied psychology devoted to psychological problems associated with criminal behaviour, criminal investigation, and the treatment of criminals. The term is sometimes used synonymously with forensic psychology, but this is avoided in careful usage. See also criminal profiling, investigative psychology.

Forensic Psychology is a real field, but requires a PhD in clinical psychology with a few years experience in clinical psychology.  I have some basic training in forensic psychology as applied to behavioral profiling of serial offenders, but that's not the only application.  Forensic psychologists also act as expert witnesses for the courts and defense attorneys to analyze a defendant's mental state as applied to a committed crime (e.g, was it really temporary insanity or what?).  Most people hear the word "forensic" and automatically think of CSI related roles.

I looked around the internet and found the below-listed to be a good site for more information:

Please drop me a line and let me know if I can be of any further assistance!
