Dealing with Body Guards
Posted about 1 month ago Do any of you have to deal with body guards. Either govermental like SS or private like for corprate exec's. I have had to deal with a few in my work and they seemed to be a mixed bunch of ex. military (sec. 8's) or former cops. Just curious to what you have to say. |

| Posted about 1 month ago We've had considerable dealings with the Secret Service. I've never found them all that difficult to work with. They are very thorough, and at time a bit anal, but hey you just have to understand they are very dedicated to their job. The past VP lives in this area, when he was VP he visited quite often. The last president and the current one have visited here quite often. With the impending election we've had visits from both the front running candidates as well as the sitting president. I expect we'll get several more before this election is over.

| Posted about 1 month ago Most of the ones we see around here are wanna be security types who are a little to sold on themselves. And they all seem to have everything from the 5.11 and black hawk or blackwater catalogs. All thats is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. |

My angle is that a local company has contacted me about working with them. I am currently in armored transport and in few weeks hope to be in sheriff's academy. I am wondering if officers on here have had good experiences or would I be getting in with psyco's. |

| Posted about 1 month ago There is a vast difference between Secret Service guys and local body guards! The SS guys are great, intelligent, and know their jobs inside and out. I have worked with them a number of times doing Presidential escort. Private guys, you will just have to look at the company itself and see who they hire. My son has been approached by one here because he is ex-airborne with the 82nd but he has not training. They offered to send him to school but he just was not all that comfortable with the job as they are told to turn a blind eye to any criminal behaviour on the part of the client. You want to be in LE, then go with the SO and forget about this bodyguard garbage. |

The academy that I speak of is a Special Deputy acadamy. This is for the jail and transport division. The road deputy position was merged into the PD and they became IMPD. I am going into the transport division. |

I am not very inclined to work with them. I just became curious as to what you all LEO"s think. |
