| Posted 3 months ago I own a Sig P229 in all black. It is truly a great weapon especially in .40 or .357 Sig. Are you going to use a Sig as a duty weapon for an agency? |

| Posted 3 months ago I don't know anything about a two tone 229 but I also own a black one and love it. I actually shoot better with it then my issued Glock which is also a .40, and it's compact and easy to conceal. KSP494

| Posted 3 months ago I just have been wanting a gun and was trying to do a little research. I am going to be getting my ccw and want to carry it but heard it is a liitle large for that. I have ued a XD 40 and it just seemed a little too small for my hands so Im not sure yet what I will get. |

| Posted 3 months ago I have a two-tone sig 229 in.40 and I love it. You can get a tactical mag extension in silver and it looks slick with the stainless slide and creates a home for my little finger on the grip. Different strokes for different folks (but Sigs are the best!) |

| Posted 3 months ago Sig Sauer and Glock are both excellent weapons. Try to take each for a "test drive" and acquire the one that "fits" you best! |

| Posted 3 months ago The weapon itself is very high quality. Whether or not it is a good weapon choice for you or not depends on how well it fits your hand and how accurate you can fire it and how well you can handle it. |

| Posted 3 months ago the two tone will not aquire any rust on the slide. which is always a good thing. The Sig 229 is an excellent pistol and thats saying the least. I regret getting rid of mine. It was by far one of the most accurate and easy to work pistols I have ever worked with.
Highly recommend it! Everything you do can get you killed, including doing nothing at all. |

| Posted 3 months ago I have a two-tone Springfield XD-45. The only thing I don't like is that the slide is a little bit slick when manipulating during a reload. Otherwise it makes a great duty weapon! |

| Posted 3 months ago Get someone to show you the difference between taking down the weapon for cleaning, see what is easier for you. You may find that a GLOCK 17 in 9mm is the way to go....just my 2 bob's (20 cents) worth. |

Why not try a Glock 19 or 23. Both are mid-sized weapons and about the same size as a Sig 229 or if you really want a Sig try a Sig 239 it's a little slimmer |

Regina, Find a nearby shooting range that rents pistols. That way you can try several different brands & calibers to decide what works best for YOU before you go and plunk down several hundred dollars of your money. If you buy a nice expensive pistol that is too heavy, or has too much felt recoil for YOU, then you'll be unhappy and uncomfortable with it, then YOU won't carry it for when YOU need it. You could have everyone on this list tell you what works best (FOR THEM). ONLY YOU can really determine what is best for YOU. Find the smallest most powerful handgun that YOU feel comfortable with, then practice with it and store it safely. A small .380 pistol that works good for you and you can handle safely and accurately handle is far better than a full size .45 that you don't feel comfortable with and wind up leaving at home. (Not implying that you can or can't handle a .45 it was for example purposes only) I'm not "really" a troll....I just love changing my avatar... because...

| Posted 3 months ago I own a 229 with a two-tone and love the gun but not for ccw. The size of the gun is a factor-like you mentioned-both for grip circumference and more importantly weight. You will be surprised how much a few extra ounces will feel like much more at the end of a day of carrying a concealed weapon. Also the size factors into how you will carry it, since unlike your duty weapon you will not want it to be seen through your clothing-known as printing. The two tone slide offers a tough finish to be sure, but scratches are much more noticeable than in all black, and if a altercation resulting in a shooting happens, you don't want light reflecting off the slide revealing your location from cover. These may seem like trivial points, but when you're betting your life on a gun well...you know. The sig is an excellent handgun for accuracy, and rarely does it ever burp on ammo, digesting everything from +p to handloads. There are several different ways to carry this fine gun, the number of holsters and methods giving even more respect to this popular model. All being said, a ccw gun is a very personal choice, so listen to all feedback and be sure before you purchase. I have never come across the "perfect" carry gun, but yours is a great gun if you choose it! |

| Posted 3 months ago I own the P229 in all black along with a Glock 23C. I love both guns but as I have mentioned in other threads I LOVE MY SIG, I will agree the Glock is lighter and probably easier to conceal. I personally shoot WAY better with my SIG it's all based on your preference, like mentioned above try shooting both or as many guns as you can get your hands on, also one other thing one day at the range a lady had the SIG leather concealment jacket and vest both of which she put my Sig in the concealment portions of the jacket and vest the gun was completly concealed also the weight is on the jacket not on your hip or back so it was very easy to walk around and barely tell you had a gun concealed at your chest unless of course you bent over the weight would pull the jacket and vest down. This is my .2 cents, but I personaly carry my Sig on duty and off, my Glock stays in the night stand. R.I.P Deputy Gaston. You will be missed. |
