The best vacation by far and the one that gives you the most bang for your buck is Cruising, hands down. You arrive at the ship and unpack just the one time until you are ready to end the vacation. There is not need to drive back to the hotel every night or drive on to the next town or location and waste the day. You fall into bed at night and wake up in another country! Everything is there for you including all meals and snacks included as well as many activities, shows, games, pools, etc and the booze is not all that expensive either. You get to visit many different countries and cultures and get to meet so many people from all walks of life and nations as well, even while onboard! We have done over 2 dozen cruises all over the world from Tahiti, Hawaii, Caribbean, and Europe. Once you go, you are pretty much hooked for life. We did those 2 dozen plus cruises well within 10 years.

I heartily agree with 1 minor little caveat.... if you have a particular 'addiction' to something like Pepsi or Coke and won't drink any cola type other than your particular one, find out ahead of time what's onboard.... Many years ago, I did a cruise while "addicted" to pepsi, and was on a coke only cruise... I went thru caffeine withdrawals... and wound up paying almost $10.00 for a six-pack of pepsi in the Bahamas.... wife thought it was rather amusing.... but most importantly... HAVE FUN!!!

I totally agree with Robocop and Hospital Cop, I've only done Carnival Cruises and after the first one only balconey rooms.  The food for the most part is great, you can eat 24 hours a day if you want to, drinks are really reasonable and you don't have to worry about drinking and driving LOL.  Although, you do have to worry if it gets really windy on the ocean and you've had a few too many, it's not easy to walk.  The shows are good, pools are clean and your cabin steward leaves you a towel friend on your bed at night awwww.

We've been to Cozumel twice, Belize, I don't recommend St. Marteens, St. Thomas is great especially if you go on the land excursion to the top of the mountain and have a Baileys Frozen Drink YUMMY, but do it in the jeep great thrill ride, we've also been to Grand Cayman Islands, if you go there prices are in English money our lunch at Margaritaville was $50.00 American, Puerto Rico, Senor Frogs has the best ribs and tallest frozen drinks.

You can buy a soda card on the ship at least you can with Carnival, depending on how long your cruise it depends on how much the card cost, then you have to decide whether or not it's worth it.   I like ice tea and juices and they are free on Carnival, and I make my own iced coffee there too.  I've seen people bring their own sodas on board but that seems like a pain in the butt when you have so  many other things to bring along.

That's another thing don't pack everything you think you are going to need because  you aren't going to need it, a nice outfit for the Captains Dinner if you choose to attend, and you need to look decent if you want to go to the dining room for dinner, no shorts allowed in the dining room.  Other than that it's all casual.

Have a great time on your first cruise

I have been a two cruises and I must say there were the best vacations I have ever been on. Great food, plenty to do and it is very relaxing.  Planning another for this fall.

Now Now It will be ok, I owe $111,000 in school loans, I haven't seen a cruise in two years, and haven't worked in more than a year in a half.  Vacations are listed in the dictionary, and I know how much it cost to put gas in my car when the tank is at 1/2.  Believe me it does get better.
