Posted 2 months ago For the first time in my life, I just watched an episode of CSI, Miami. Here's the story .... In real police work, consider the following: 1. There are no theme songs. 2. There are no commercials. 3. There are no instant DNA searches and identifications. 4. There are no make-up artists to make you look pretty. 5. There are no special camera angles to make you look better, bigger or best. 6.There is no "three quarter' lighting to show off your best side. 7. Not every cop is a smooth baritone that speaks perfectly. 8. There are mostly no beautiful people on our side. Some are ok but most are just regular people. 9. Crime isn't generally wrapped up, cleaned up, secured up and cleared up in less than an hour. 10. There are no gentle breezes to make your hair look terrific for a media photographer. 11. No one moves in slow mo...except in your mind when you are involved in an OIS. 12. Coroner's offices are not so pretty. 13. David Caruso (Lt. Horatio Caine) will never be your partner. 14. Allied agencies are not always so cooperative. 15. There are no credits that show your name any computer at the end of your shift. 16. Not everyone answers their cellphone within three rings. Mostly you might be ignored. 17. You usually cannot grow a beard unless your are UC. 18. You do not always have all your equipment in good working order. 19. People don't always know what to say to you when you've been involved in or seen something awful. 20. You can't afford clothes that are worn on any particular TV show. If you are basing your law enforcement career on what you've seen on TV, you are sorely mistaken. Ride-a-long with a real cop or talk to a real cop. Then you will know the real deal. 10-8 .... | Posted 2 months ago Sarge.... Everytime I exit my undercover car...I hear theme music (Welcome to the Jungle). Further, when I look in my side view mirror...I love who I see looking back at me. I also find that I speak long sentences (Up to three or four words per sentence just like Lt Cain). I solve most of my crime in an hour, because Im proficient. The humid breeze is always nice as it smoozes through my beard. I always have on nice clothes (usually only two holes in my inside out sox). AND other agencies or always dyin to assist... Sarge....if ur department isnt like that....there is a problem!

Mostly, I 'happen upon' most of my cases. Glad you can look pretty for all of us.... By the way is there not some way the the a@@hole from yesturday can't have his ip address blocked? Life is not cherries. It's roses with thorns. It may sting getting to the prize but in the end it is worth it. |

Superbad.. Awesome.. I don't watch much TV, anyways.. Police dramas such as CSI (Pick any locality these days) suck.. The Shield really puts law enforcement in an entirely negative light.. And the other stuff (Cops, Speeders, etc) is fun to watch, but I was less than thrilled when I got pulled over Saturday and an MTV camera crew was with the deputy.. They were at my school all week filming some new show, and nobody was too thrilled about it.. I want to find the driver(s) at the front of the traffic jam and have their license(s) revoked. Then make them ride the bus until they promise never to hold the rest of us up again. |

Been on commercial break, but I am back now so I am ready to have the wind in my hair, the sun on my face, and I demand to look great from all camera angles...(shhyea, right). but seriously, too many folks think this sh*^ really is true- life, I mean, like they do it on CSI Dude! Can't you do that? Gotta love how Caine always has his back turned to people and apparently has eyes in the back of his head as well as the all important sunglasses for emphasis. |

| Posted 2 months ago Sarge, No disrespect here, but I think that 99% of the "cop" shows on the trusty television set are aimed at entertaining the general "sheeple" public and not designed to be realistic.... You can rip apart any of the cop shows and come up with lists like that.... I mean come on, the good ole shows like CHiPs where the Highway Patrol never draw their firearms while making arrests? or T.J. Hooker throwing his baton and always nailing the badguy.... or the multitude of cops shows where the heros get into several shootouts in lass than an hour ? Other types of programming are similar.... ER & hospitals don't often resemble the same "reality"...... Just pretend you're WATCHING the comics from the sunday paper....it's mindless humor.... enjoy it for what it is.... Psychotics build castles in the air, Neurotics live in those castles, and Psychiatrists collect the rent. |

Cops get away with everything, are brutal and thuggish, and vicious beyond belief. CSI [Original]: Crime scene management is flawless, takes only a few hours, and cases are solved within days. Everybody working CIS is sexy, skinny, and can afford designer clothes. Everyone gets to go home happy at the end of the day. CSI Miami: Crazy wierd things magically happen, then super beautiful CSI detectives gather wierd and bizarre evidence, solve the case, buy more designer clothing, and kick people's rearends. Oh, let's not forget the sleek and stylish interrogation rooms, with the perfect backdrop lighting. We all know that is exactly what an interrogation room looks like right? bigrobmc says ...
