Residence Check

Posted 5 months ago My BI is coming to my home tomorrow to do a residence check. I have never done this before and was wondering what this involves. If I searched right, I couldn't find any previous questions for this. Thanks. |

| Posted 5 months ago I'm guessing BI is Background Investigator. They will come over, ask you questions and look around. Thats about it. They usually don't announce that they are coming over that far ahead of time. |

| Posted 5 months ago They didn't really go through my house they just looked around to see how I lived, just checking how neat and orderly my place was, it wasn't a white glove inspection or executing a search warrant. Police Link Forums Moderator PAIN IS WEAKNESS LEAVING THE BODY! |

We never announced our visits. We also talked with the wife/husband, and neighbors. |

Yeah, a day notice is very suprising. I always thought, like you said, it was an unanounced check, or a phone call to see if you are home at best. |

| Posted 5 months ago What are you usually required to wear? I don't want to wear jeans and a t-shirt if I am suppose to wear dress slacks and shirt. Thanks again. |

it doesn't matter what you look like, they just want to see how you live. So clean up the beer cans, and make sure no used condoms are laying around the floor. In other words, Don't have your house look like a college guy's dorm room. No questionable posters.... |

Wow. I don't know of this happening even for a TS or TS-SCI. Neighbor interviews, sure, but personal visits are scheduled and nobody comes into the house as a matter of course, IME. If you come to my door without an appointment and I don't know you I won't answer. I assume the resident at least gets a phone call when the BI is on the way. |

Anna, are you asking why Rictus won't let anyone in, or are you asking why Background Investigators come to the house....?
You would have to ask Rictus in person, but I' m the same way....it its a professional meeting, I better get a phone call. My home is always neat and orderly, even with two little kids, but I would never have someone come over without making sure I had a pot of coffee on and some ice cold bottles of water ready, just in case. I don't care if they open up every drawer and cupboard in my home, just let me know you're on the way. It reflects on someone's manners. As for why they investigate your home, they need to make sure they cover all their bases and its a good reflection of you as a person and how you maintain yourself. When I was younger, I shared a condominium with another Officer. He worked days, I worked evenings and we shared the same off days. Perfect schedule. He applied and was accepted into the FBI, and during the background investigation they inspected our home. I was the only one there and when the FBI Agent arrived, I was more than cordial. When I offered him something to drink, he asked for coffee. I was unprepared and vowed to myself that would never happen again. He was impressed with the cleanliness of a home shared by two college age males.... "Show class, have pride, and display character. | Posted 4 months ago Just curious why they want to check out the home. Would the job actually be in jepordy if the house was messy or, say, the walls needed painting - things of that nature. Say it was laundry day but the laundry wasn't finished and it was all pulled out to start (smelly socks piled by the door type tragedy) Live by the Golden Rule |

I guess it a measure of what kind of applicant they have. It helps give an overall idea of what they are going to hire. |
