I hear alot of people saying P.O.S.T as the police officer training and licensing agency. In Oklahoma it is called C.L.E.E.T (council on law enforcement education and training). I was just wondering if the term POST is what its called every where or just the general term. If its different where you are let me know, just curious.

Most of us use POST as everyone knows what were are talking about then.  If I told you I was taking an IADRS course would you know I was taking a continuing ed course at International Assn. of Dive Rescue Specialists??  It is just easier.

I'm certainly glad you know the Chief of Police Sir!! At least you know somebody that can post your bail!!!!

In Michigan: M.C.O.L.E.S. (Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards)

In New York: There appears to be no "state-wide" certification that I have ever been aware of

In New York each department has their own standards and each department has state-wide authority.

NYPD  Lt. -

That's a bit scary, isn't it.  One officer of one department is trained completely different than another just 10-20 miles away.  Think that's why many states went with a state sanctioned  and approved set of standards. Trained equally.  Is it working well for you there in New York.?

In New York you have DCJS (Department of Criminal Justice Services).  Every Officer in New York has to be certified meeting the requirements of the New York State Municiple Police Training Council (M.P.T.C.).  Most departments have to meet M.P.T.C. requirements.
