I've done the Chattooga in Tennessee (where they filmed the movie "Deliverance") and the New River in West Virginia (part of the Gauley Rapids). Both have Class V rapids with guides available. The Chattooga has drop off's in some places of 6-8 feet, whereas the New River is basically flat with a gradual decline during the course of the river. The New River found waves coming at you from all directions with one swallowing me. That is where I found out no one hears you scream "Mommy" underwater!!!

Grand Canyon Rafting on the Colorado River - Great trip! They have 1 day - a week or more trips! I went with my father many years ago with the National Wildlife Federation. It was a 8 day trip & enjoyed every minute of it.

Man that sounds great.  We have a small group that travels together and we did the ocoee in Cleveland, TN last year where they had the '98? olympics.  It is class four and we had a blast.  We will be there the second weekend of July this year.

I have done so in Costa Rica twice on the Revolution River and they were mostly class 3 rapids. Even class 3 is pretty exciting. It was great fun and something I would never get tired of.

If you're looking for a real thril, check out the newest whitewater river-The Cheoah. In western North Carolina it is like the Chattooga or Ocoee on steriods. 9 miles, 2-3 hours, constant paddling, 12 foot drop-FANTASTIC!! It is a controlled relase river so the next water release is on Aug 17. Check out www.wildwaterrafting.com/cheoah.html for information. I've been three times and it is a blast everytime.

I've rafted both the new and Gulley Rivers in West Virginia.  The new has some class fives.  The Gulley in the fall is sick with the best Whitewater going.  Many V and V+ rapids.  One rapid on the Gulley (Sweets Falls) is a fourteen foot waterfall.  Yea rafting rocks.
