Advice about medication.

Posted 6 months ago I am currently enroled in a BPOC here in Texas. I have always wanted to be in Law Enforcement since I was younger. My mother and wife have noticed alot of mood changes and symptoms of what is called bi-polar disorder and or manic tendencies. This has manifested itself in ups I.E I feel like nothing can keep me from my goal of being a police officer, to the downs I.E. thinking I will never be a police officer and I should just quit the BPOC, to even paranoia I.E. thinking my current boss wants me to quit and is doing things to try and make me quit, and that all of my felow cadets and instructors will sabotauge any agency I apply to I know this is not true on all 3 parts but I still feel that way. That was a little background here is the question. My mom has Bi-Polar she says I need to get on medication because this disease she thinks I have will permanantly screw up any chance of me being a police officer. I am worried about taking any kind of "crazy" medication because it will look bad when I apply to a agency. What is your opinion of this comming from a standpoint of someone that has gone through the hiring process and or is incharge of the hiring process. |

| Posted 6 months ago Its probably best if you consult your doctor about the medications you need to take. Also ask about your choice of careers and if your meds may pose any possible restrictions as to what you can do jobwise. |

Chucky You need to be thoroughly evaluated by both a medical & mental health professional ASAP. Your profile states that you are a Fire Fighter, but your employer is a security company... Which is it? If you're employer has some type of employee assistance program... go to it... it's confidential and can help steer you into the right directions. Because you have a family history of mental health issues it greatly increases the possibility that you have some, but DON'T let anyone...I mean ANYONE other than licensed/trained PROFESSIONALS diagnose you. DO NOT TAKE ANY MEDICATIONS from anyone else!!!! Not only is it unlawful... what works for 1 person may not be the best for another. It is altogether possible that you are merely stressing out from your school / work load upon your life... Best of luck to ya. I'm not "really" a troll....I just love changing my avatar... because...
