Posted 5 months ago I was visiting some of the National Parkand State sites in Virginia. The only time we saw a crowd was at Monticello. Most of the parks were empty. Tourism is down 25% according to a ranger that I spoke with. Monticello was very nice and educational! Also the tavern down the street is a great place for the family to dine! Harpers Ferry in West Virginia was almost a ghost town, but very clean & great national park to visit! Edward T. Cook

Posted 4 months ago Just got back from a two week vacation in Canada. Talk about gas prices! Over $5.00 a gallon in Alberta and I ended up spending over $400.00 for fuel. That's it for this year (and most likely next as well...).

Posted 4 months ago Yo Ed I wish I would have know you were at Monticello it is less than an hour from my house. I live just outside of Richmond city . Takes me about two hours running down Rt. 29 to get to C'ville. Used to live in Albemarle Co. years ago. Monticello is always a great place to visit and tour.

Posted 4 months ago I am not driving as much but I have flown to Arizona and will be going to Miami soon. I figure if it would cost me the same to drive to Florida than take a plane. I am flying all the way. Luckily I booked my flights before they started charging you to go to the bathroom (exaggerating). Anyway, I have held off on taking the kids to the zoo which is about 60 miles. THe daily things are what I have slowed down on.

| Posted 2 months ago We kept everything pretty much in Michigan and Ohio this year. My Wife took my son down to Kings Island with her family in June. I took my Son up to the Upper Peninsula twice. Northern Michigan businesses are reporting great summer totals because people here in Michigan, for the most part, stayed in Michigan, but went up north to get away. We've got everything here in Michigan that people spend thousands of dollars to go elsewhere to see. We've got 4 seaasons, deserts, mountains, blue water, you name it, we probably got it here.
