i've noticed that depending on what part of the country you are from, officers call their car different things. What state are you from and what do you call your car?

Mississippi - Patrol car.

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, then it may be a troll doing an impression of a duck.

Texas- Patrol Car.

Can't fit a whole 'squad' in it ;)

I use crusier, or patrol vehicle.. Squad car make it sound like everyone piles in one car.... Well we do have a few in the department might as well be in a clown car with they way they act..... When they roll up you half expect the theme music  from Benny Hill to start... There now this stuck in your head for the rest of the day......

For so long as one hundred men remain alive, we shall never under any conditions submit to the domination of the English. It is not for glory or riches or honours that we fight, but only for liberty, which no good man will consent to lose but with his life.

NYPD only: Just to be different, our cars have been called RMP's (Radio Motor Patrol) since cars were first used in the department.

HAHAHA this made me think of what we do at work.  We have a 2008 Tahoe and a 2008 Impala, depending on what handler gets to the kennels first you either get to drive the "Tahoe" or the "other car".  Needless to say we are at work on time if not early everyday.

I started off in NJ so they were radio cars or squad cars.  Here in FL they are cruisers, patrol cars, or units.  I have heard some of the guys from the midwest call them prowlers or prowl cars too.

In conversation we call them cruisers or cars or trucks (5 out of 8 vehicles in my dept are 4WD 4DR pickups).

In reports we refer to them as patrol vehicle.

Here in MN, we call 'em squads. Never thought about it before, but I guess it does kinda sound like a whole lot of people in one car.

Then again, if the "sh_t hit the fan" we would just yell to the dispatcher, "Send me a car".

If your cruiser walks like a duck, you may want to take it to the mechanic to get checked....

If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

Patrol Cars, Squad Cars, Scout Cars, Radio Cars, etc., etc, etc..  As long as they get the job done they can be called whatever you like!  Like anything else, local vernacular plays a part.  You say tomato, I say tomatoooo, you say potato, I say potatooo!
