Pitt Bulls Kill Boy

Posted 6 months ago In Fredericksburg, central Texas, about a week ago (remember, trying to remember all details), an 8 year old mauled and killed by 2 pitt bulls that were running loose. Couple of days ago, 2 people were arrested. I own a Pitt, and I feel the arrests were justified. Even though my Pitt is a huge weenie, I take the necessary precautions to make sure he does and can not get out of the yard. I think if u own a dog like a Pitt, Rott or Doberman, a person needs to take the proper precautions. Anybody agree or disagree? |

| Posted 6 months ago It doesn't matter what type of dog you have, precautions should always be taken. I had a Rottie that was a gentle giant until my little guy was around. If anyone walked by the front of my house and my son was out there he would manage to get in between my son and the street. Any other day a stranger could walk by and he wouldn't even flinch. Just like a human, animals could have a bad day and the normally passive dog could suddenly become aggressive. |

| Posted 6 months ago I agree completely I have a pitbull and she is a big baby, but everytime we go out she has a leash on,there are so many people around here that just let their dogs run loose and I worry that one of them are going to get too close and she is going to kill them. I carry pepper spray and a stun gun so I can just zap or spray them if they get to close, and I will not feel bad one bit for doing it because they are irresponsible, actually maybe I should be zapping the owners instead LOL. That is terrible about that little boy those dogs should be put down and the owners put in jail. GOD Bless |

| Posted 6 months ago I agree they have to be restrained. With a dog (or human for that matter) we always have to be prepared for what every happens. I've had to shoot a dog that was attacking me after I distracted it from attacking two juveniles. I'm not going to let a dog of any breed maul me or someone else before I take action. Much the same as if someone has a weapon and doesn't follow instructions. I'm not saying I'll shoot any dog. Quite to the contrary, I'd rather pet them. But if they're running at me, barking, etc and I don't know that they are playing, I don't see a choice! |

| Posted 6 months ago My brother owns a pit and he is a great and friendly dog. He is really powerful though and I can easily see how a dog like that could kill an 8 year old. I agree that all dogs need to be kept in a responsible mannor but even more importantly I think is the way they are treated at home. You guys all say your dogs are great and I believe it, unfortunately the dogs that get kicked when they are in the way are the same dogs that are going to be sent out to wander the neighborhood when the owner doesn't want to take responsability. We need dogcathers again that just roam around and bring all the stray dogs to the pound.

| Posted 2 months ago i don't understand this. how can someone let their dogs run free? now, granted when i lived in flordia i let my dog run on the beach but i was on top of him- always. how can people not care and not know where their dog is at all times. i would freak if i didn't know where they were. i have a rott and a pitt puppy. here's a case and point as well.. i walk my dog on a leash. one day a golden lab ran up on us with aggression. my dog, of course, reacted to protect me and (stupid me) i heeled him and put myself between them and yelled and screamed until this dog backed off. i got the attention of the neighborhood and as we walked back to our house i heard this man say 'that's why they shouldn't allow those breeds" . it's that kind of mentality that made me put myself in danger because if my rott had been attacked with that kind of eye witness he would have been put down. sorry, i went off on a tangent. yes, these people should be charged with (at least) involentary manslaughter and animal cruelty. | Posted 2 months ago In the City and County of Denver Pit Bulls are illegal to own. We've had numerous attacks on people and other pets. |

Sorry Thomas but in my opinion no disrespect to you, but that is the stupiest , non sense law I don't Agreed with with. I always said, the dogs only would be as much asshole as the owner is. Any dog could of done that, but because it was a pitt it made front page. If it was any other dog it would of made last page. The city of Denver should of done instead of banning the dog from the city, they should of made people who want to own a pitt, to go through a serious background check just like they do for a wepons permit. And who ever is a real pittbull lover would not mind doing that. Also have a controlled reproduction and sales. Where I live I have to pay insurance and higher rent just because is a pitt.
GO PITTBULLS Again Sorry, I did not meant no disrespect to you or your city. |

| Posted 2 months ago I can't stand those kind of dog's!!!! They are stereotyped for a reason. How many headlines do you read that say "Golden Retriever kills baby". Then comes all the Pitt Bull lovers saying thing's like the dog came from a broken home, or the dog was abused, or blah blah blah. If they only become violent for a reason then how do you explain the one that a friend of mine owned and was almost killed when her POS Pitt decided to drag her across her yard by her head for NO reason and that dog was shown lot's of love ever since it was born. My Chief of Police shot it 6 times with his .40 so it will never do it again at least. I guess I'm just ignorant and uneducated like all the other Pitt, Rotty, Doverman haters out there. Here's a good one for those of you who have kids, just don't step on it:
WHO'S IN CHARGE OF THIS MESS??? |

| Posted about 1 month ago I agree the arrests were justified. I own two Pitbulls and always keep them on a leash. It does not matter what the breed it is how you train and treat the animals. If you abuse them chances are they will be dangerous, if you treat them well most chances are they will be good dogs. As far as I'm concerned its not the dog it's the master. | Posted about 1 month ago I agree, need to keep any/all dogs from getting out without being on a leash. Just last week here in Phoenix a city worker was on a break in a local park and was attacked by 2 American Bulldogs, the worker was tore up pretty bad, luckily someone called 911 and PD was there in less than 2 minutes and shot and killed both dogs. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Everyone that has a pet/pets is responsible for the care of that pet and if need be responsible for the actions of that pet. It is one thing to have a big dog that is a lovey-dovey, but another if you have it for protection. All breeds of dogs are great for pets, the kind of dog it is gonna be is up to the owner. |
