Posted 6 months ago One of the classes I am taking this term is Advanced Criminology and in this class there is a great deal of attention paid to crime statistics. Here are some interesting little tidbits I just learned I thought I would share with my fellow PL CJ students and anyone else who might have a free moment and a comment or two. Some of this is really interesting. ______________________________________________________________________ Factors that affect crime: 1. AGE 2. ECONOMY 3. SOCIAL PROBLEMS 4. ABORTIONS 5. AVAILABILITY OF GUNS 6. GANGS 7. DRUG USAGE 8. MEDIA INFLUENCE 9. MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY 10. JUSTICE POLICY 11. PRESENTATION OF CRIMINAL OPPORTUNITY OR LACK THERE OF Eight Major Crimes as listed by the FBI 1. HOMICIDE 2. RAPE 3. ASSAULT 4. ROBBERY *all listed as personal crime 5. THEFT OF PROPERTY/LARCENY 6. AUTO THEFT 7. BURGLARY 8. ARSON *all listed as property crime Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

| Posted 6 months ago No joke!... I love how they through in the "Availability of guns." Gee, I wonder in what context they're refering. They told (us) to open up the Embassy, or "we'll blow you away." And then they looked up and saw the Marines on the roof with these really big guns, and they said in Somali, "Igaralli ahow," which means "Excuse me, I didn't mean it, my mistake".
