What do you all think about the new Taurus Judge?  Shoots a .45 round or a .410 shotgun shell.  Thinking about buying as a good close range or home protection weapon.

There are other guns that will do the same.  It makes for a nice combo and I would like to try a shoot some doves with it.

I am a .45 fan in the extreme. My normal carry guns are a Glock mod. 30 and Glock mod. 36. I am a semi auto fan and with capacities and dependability of a number of pistols, I can't see a reason to carry a revolver that is harder to conceal, and not to Taurus bash but the ones I do see come thru the classes I teach leave a lot to be desired , especially in the dependability area.

I like the concept and I'd like to fire one. If there is one with an option for a longer barrel then I'm sold I think it looks funny with the barrel on it.

I do believe that they have both;  3 in. and 6 in. barrel lengths.

I can handle anything that life throws at me~ I may not be able to handle it well, or correctly, gracefully, with finesse, or expediently ~ But I will handle it.

I think a 6" barrel would make it look better and of course more accurate.

It's based off the Taurus Tracker frame. I have a Tracker in .44 MAG with a 4 inch barrel and factory porting and it is a really nice revolver for the money. I assume that the Judge would be just as nice.

I don't know about service / urban carry but I definately would want one for out doors carry for backpacking, hiking and the like. .45 long colt will handle any dangerous big game and the .410 shot shells for snakes good combo. (I usually carry my mosberg 500 if I expext bear anyway)

I have really been interested in seeing/shooting this gun but I just haven't come across one. None of the local shops seem to have any and suprisingly, I haven't seen anybody at the range with one yet..... and according to my girlfriend, I spend more time at the range than I do with her....

I have been very happy with Taurus in the last few years. They have gone to great lengths to improve the quality of their firearms.

I purchased a PT1911SS about 4 months ago and I have been amazed by its performance out of the box. I have many 1911's and although it is nothing like my Baer or Kimber, it is a very well built gun. I assume the Judge is likely to be just as well built and it is a great concept.

I have been able to ascertain that this handgun is indeed Taurus' answer to another handgun called the Thunder 5 made by a different company. The Thunder 5 actually has a full size 3 inch magnum .410 cylender.
