Just like to see what others are doing as a morale booster.

It seems to be hard to keep the morlae up for a long period of time.

I always felt that if I went into work and did my job to the best of my ability then I had something to be proud of. We all know there are influences within our departments that have an adverse effect on morale, however, most of the time we have no control over them. If you do what you feel is right, can look in the mirror every day, then you make your own morale. I never let what anyone thought about me bother me and had a successful career. After retirement I knew my wife and daughter were proud of my accompishments so I know I did the right thing. I hope this makes sense to you guys/gals. Do you job to the best of your ability and don't let the petty shit get to you. Just an old retired guy's advise.

I agree with you 100% but we have several others that need that pat on the back. My personal accomplishments and knowing that I am making a difference is enough for me but again, there are others who need it the boost.

"A simple pat on the back works much better than a kick in the ass!". 27 years backs that up. Guys should be proud of what they do day in and day out because they do make a difference. I realize they don't feel that way, but it's a fact.

I like messing with people a lot, let them know that even though it's a serious job that they can still have fun. Changing their screen desktop background or sending out e-mails to other COs (nobody above a SGT though) when they leave the computers logged in are my personal favorites.

There's a bunch of e-mails circulating around with funny pictures and videos that just make you laugh...some I've even sent from this very site-

The biggest moral problems in most agencies these days are spineless bosses not backing their cops up who just took the promotional test for money!

Our moral builder...on my shift we are a family. My Lt straight up said if we take care of him he wil do the same. We joke around make fun of each other and still show respect. Hell my Lt has a thing for spraying us with OC when we least suspect it haha. His moto.. "I dont give a fuck what you do as long as I dont catch hell and you get the job done" plain and simple. My shift goes to bars together and partys, BBQ's, hell we one time protected a Constable from getting jumped by a bunch of gang members at a water park. My suggestion would be to get to know your fellow officers well, respect them and thier space, motivate and dont be so serious all the time.

liberty or death, what we so proudly hail, once you provoke her. You will hear the rattling of her tail. She will return with a deadly bite, so dont tread on me
