With all of the injuries Greg suffered, it is an act of God that he is still here. We are continuing to pray for him.

I have added Greg and his family to my parish prayer list, and sent this prayer to them through the link you posted...

God our healer,

Keep us aware of your presence,

Support us with your power,

Comfort us with your protection,

Give us strength

And establish us in your peace.

Even though I'm no longer an LEO I still do support all of them very much and also with me being a Christian Officer Surles, his family and friends are surely in my thoughts and prayers. I was watching ABC 33/40 News coverage of the accident the other night and when they showed the patrol car I was shocked that anyone may have survived. I actually have posted a few articles on this site about the accident in the News Section.

Just a little about myself, some of which is in my profile information, but I was a Security Police in the US Air Force from 1982 to 1988, stationed at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota where I worked in the missile fields. After being Honorably Discharged I went to work with the Dothan Airport Police Department in Dothan Alabama. I worked there for 6 1/2 years and my Father, who lives in Alpine Alabama, began to have some medical problems I decided to move closer to him and I went into the retail line of work and I was getting a little burned out on the Security/Law Enforcement work anyway. My Father's health improved and I had changed jobs a few times since, still in retail though, and finally got married. Now I'm in the Anniston/Oxford area, married to a wonderful wife, two great sons aged 9 and soon to be 5. I'm an Amateur Radio operator, or Ham, and actively involved with the Calhoun County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service so in my small way I'm once again serving and protecting my community.

Please pass along to the Surles family our good thoughts and wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Greg is an awesome individual. I know him personally and for him to survive this is a testament that God is with us and was definitely with Greg that day. He is a true Warrior.

I signed his guestbook and hope that everyone else does too. It is very important that he and his family hear from everybody, even the ones they don't know. It inspires and heals. Please do it.

Jim , I got the same notification. Such a shame to prove the adage "only the good die young" . Considering his odds that he should have passed when hit , he did have the advantage of seeing his family before he passed. I don't think our prayers were in vain , He was able to pass in Dignity with His Family by His Side. His Family needs our prayers more then ever for there survival. Another case for the death and disability act.   God speed Greg Surles.

Many of us have been following this tragic story from the begining. We hope that the Surles' find comfort in knowing that there are so many people that care. This is the other thread http://www.policelink.com/topics/21606-officer-greg-surles/posts
