Glock 19

Posted 5 months ago Thinking of trading a Loaded Springfield 1911 for a Glock 19. Any thoughts? I figure you guys would be the ones to ask. I don't want to get into the whole 9mm vs. 45 thing. My primary reason is cost to shoot. |

| Posted 5 months ago The G19 is not an expensive handgun by any means. Personally, I would not do an even trade in this case. In fact, I would do whatever I could to hold on to the 1911 and acquire a G19 through other means.
The G19 is an awesome handgun and probably my favorite at this point and your reasoning in terms of the cost of ammunition is valid to a degree, but it doesn't sound like a good trade at all. |

| Posted 5 months ago I agree with what's already been posted. The G19 is one of the finest 9mm handguns on the market, however there is much to be said about the Springfield. I too would attempt to procure the funds to purchase the Glock without giving up the .45...you'll regret the trade later. Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil. |

| Posted 5 months ago http://www.ammobank.com/ .45 ACP $22.47 9mm $16.03 Checked one brand on this website I used CCI brand. You're talking about a $6.00 difference in a box of ammo to go down to a much inferior weapon in terms of the size of round. If you must go with a 9mm then definitely the Glock 19 but I'd say stick Stick with the 1911 spend the extra $6.00, or like gtssaid keep the 1911 and get the Glock also.

If your wife can tell that there's an extra firearm lying around then you likely don't have enough firearms to engage in such marital subterfuge, and that needs to be corrected. Most would never know the difference given that "they all look the same", but I may just be spoiled. |

Indeed. You have to practice the "look" along with the words. You know, that look that says "Are your hormones in order, woman?!" Even if that doesn't make her second guess herself, it will open the door for you to walk her into an argument completely unrelated to your new gun, kind of like a ham-handed Jedi mind trick. |

It sounds something like this," Honey you don't pay attention to anything I do, do you? You're so worried about _ (fill in the blank)_ that you could care less what's going on with me could you?" Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |

Not sure about that but I have a closet full of collectibles, and luckily she doesn't know the difference between a shotgun and a rifle and what is work and what is not. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |

You've got time, brother. Only 1200 of them were imported in the first wave. All my 'sources' are quoting 6-8 months before anymore are brought in. Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil. |

| Posted 5 months ago Invest a couple hundred bucks into a progressive reloader, find someone WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING and roll your own. It will pay for itself if you shoot much. A box of reloads costs me about 10 bucks. Keep the 1911, if you want a 9mil get one, but you'll kick yourself in the ass later for getting rid of the Springfield. Pat Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers. |

I reduce ammo related costs with a progressive. I even harvest lead from the berms with a sifter, use wheel weights and diving weights to cast my own "free" bullets. Of course, I get lots of free ammo at work, too. |

| Posted 5 months ago I would make the trade, but then again I had an over priced boat anchor that carried the title of Springfield Armory 'loaded' series 1911. If it was not a loaded series or a from a better manufacturer I would be tempted to say something not so politically correct.
