Raydar Detectors and the Bolo911
Posted 3 months ago I have a few questions and thought i might go ahead and ask them, 1st, why are raydar detectors illegal in Virginia? I never understood this. I'm not saying I want one, I am just confused as to why VA decided to ban them. 2nd, The Bolo911 unit. should it hit the market, do you think this would be considered a 'raydar dectector'? I have seen the site and i must say it seems quite impressive. But because it signals the comming of Police Vehicles would this be considered a RD? Any replies to both questions are greatly apreciated, thanks all! Han shot first..... |

| Posted 3 months ago I don't know about Virginia but as for the Bolo911, if it were up to me every car made in this country should be equipped with it. Being a Tyrant does not make one a Leader! |

The simple answer to that question is....because the state legislators decided to make the possession of a radar detector illegal. Now why they made that decision is a big mystery. BTW it is spelled RADAR, which is short for RAdio Detection And Ranging. Be nice. Be professional. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet. Misery minus me equals humor. I reject your reality and substitute my own. |

ok thanks for the correction of the spelling! Me and my family have a joke about the radar detectors. "they are illegal because if my mom could avoid the tickets then the police would make any money." lol Han shot first..... |

I cannot see why an large Insurance group would not be interested. It would be cost effective to say the least. Being a Tyrant does not make one a Leader! |

Any replies to both questions are greatly apreciated, thanks all! In KY radar detectors aren't illegal except of course in commercial vehicles but I do list them on citations because in our courts they are generally accepted as an admission of guilt. As for the other device I'm not sure we are supposed to be discussing it here, as a prominent member of the site was reprimanded for it therefore I wont discuss the device that was previously discussed and or possible advertised on this site furthermore I have no specific knowledge of said device if it did in fact exist nor would I be disposed to discuss such a device if it did in fact exist and / or get advertised on this site. If it did in fact exist I don't feel that it would be considered as a radar detector due to the fact that if such a device existed it would detect emergency equipment not radars, if it existed which I know nothing of. As a matter of fact I don't know who any of you people are.
and it's...... R-A-D-A-R
Radio Detection and Ranging.
It emits radio waves, it's not a ray gun Police Link Forums Moderator PAIN IS WEAKNESS LEAVING THE BODY! |

well maybe is wish it was a ray gun....... but in seriousness I feel retarded after spelling it that way..... I am a HORRIBLE spellist! Han shot first..... |

| Posted 3 months ago Your spelling isn't that bad. I've seen much worse. KSP is a pretty good speller and if we can just teach him the difference between accept and except, we'd be cooking with nitrogen. Oh yeah, and ridiculous and separate. | Posted 3 months ago Two things: 1. If I stop you for speed and you have a radar detector it means that you are equally stupid for not slowing down before I lock you in and also for not hiding the radar detector before I get you pulled over and therefore I am probably going to write you a ticket for speeding just out of principle for being so stupid. 2. | Posted 3 months ago Chimp, do you sit at intersections look for people with radar detectors and then turn on your front or rear antenna to make their detector go off? It's funny to watch them turn it off and then hit the antenna again. If you do it enough, they eventually turn it off. Not that I've ever done it of course.
Personally, I couldn't care less if they have them. My radar is in standby until I get ready to clock them and then it's too late for the detector to do them any good. Of course these days 99% of my speeding cases are laser so again their detectors are worthless. Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear. |

Yeah I keep mine in standby too until I am ready to hit the target. I don't usually write for speed unless someone is doing something stupid like 60 in a 25, they are a jerkoff or they are stupid as I mentioned in my earlier post. However, yes I must admit, if I see a radar detector I not only turn it on to make their detector go off but I pull into traffic and follow them. While doing so I turn my antenna on, off , on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on.....well you get the idea and boy does it piss people off because they know I am just doing it to screw with them plus they can usually see me laughing at them in their rearview mirror. If they turn off I usually turn off too just for the added effect. Police work- the greatest show on earth and my team always wins!!!

| Posted 3 months ago OMG that tattoo is great!
People must feel stupid after being pulled for speeding WITH a RADAR detector. I couldn't have one in my car...i can barely deal with NOT staring at my GPS.... (i had to make it stop talking because i will start to focus on it.)
and chimp...that is great how you just screw with em like that! There is an officer who has pulled my mom a few times...and he likes to shine the flood light at the rear-view mirror...... Ma gets mad...i just laugh. Han shot first..... |

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that messes with those drivers. I had a guy that didn't see me when I pulled up next to him at a red light. I turned in on and off over and over. He thought that he had a malfunction with his detector until he finally looked over at me. All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing. That is misspelling it. (misspelled being another one we'll have to work on with you) Typos are altogether different. I might not pick on you for typos. Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear. |

OK the humor in this is quickly fading, I understand it is still a misspelling, I was just saying I believe he thought it was a ray-dar. Some misspellings are from not paying attention, some are from hitting the wrong key, and others because you think you're spelling it right, you just aren't.
