Posted 2 months ago If you want cops and cops only to address your question or inquiry, put "COPS ONLY" in the title / subject area. That way we can monitor it to insure that you get a response from law enforcement professionals only. You can tell a verified LEO on the site by the small gold star next to their avatar. Ignore the stars under the picture area. These mean nothing as far as importance, law enforcement experience or rank. Good luck ! | Posted 2 months ago I think as the FORMER moderator of the "Ask A Cop" forum that is should have been left intact. This Lobby thing could have been a separate forum. Obviously, this does not appear to be a decision made by a Cop but rather a civilian or someone who wants to be a cop. Just my opinion. Being a Tyrant does not make one a Leader! |

It is not just a change of name, it is an erasing of a much needed forum. Instead of being able just to post in a forum dedicated to me being able to ask an officer only, I now have to write "COPS ONLY". I am sorry but in my opinion "change of name" is inaccurate, taking away a good tool and making it no different than any other forum now just makes that part a waste of space. nonLEOs have other forums they can post their opinions in, Ask A Cop should have been allowed to stay.
If there is a petition anywhere to bring back Ask A Cop for the purpose of me being able to ask an officer only, let me know, I'll sign in big bold print! This site is suppose to be for officers mostly, taking away this forum is taking away an outlet....let me put it this way: When I go up to an officer and ask a question, I do not want a know-it-all civilian mouthing off their opinion. Officers take enough from the public, they should be allowed the honor of a place here to offer their knowledge that they gained from experience to those like me who want to hear their side of the story only. I do understand partially...but stop letting the civilians get their way....ummm hello? since when was POLICElink IMAWHINEYCIVILIANGIMMEWHATIWANTORILLTELLMYMOMMYlink? I understand compromise, but getting rid of Ask A Cop was a complete submission!

Also the manner in which the Leo badge is being given out here as defined you could get a (no offense intended here either) detention Officer withabsolutely no , none , zilch, nada Police experience answering a question and having that answer being totally inaccurate. That inaccurate answer giving a newby a direction to go in and the newby ends up in deep doo-doo. Hey the "LEO" thought he was right, right? The newby would have been better off asking the sanitation engineer. |

| Posted 2 months ago Cop = police officer, deputy, higwaypatrolman, game warden, you can arrest and confine legally, you can make the decision to take away someones freedom. Popo, Five-O. Take the perp from arrest to booking, not pass him off. Active duty or retired , not once was.
This is my definition. You will have to ask someone who is a mod or higher up the chain here on PL what the ir definition is. |

Henry I know Sarge is only following directives from higher up. I just anted to make sure he understands that none of this is directed at him personally . Nor anyone else personally. It is directed at the (IMO) poor decisions made. |

The folks who have been a cop, or have retired as a cop, know the difference between LEO and cop. The rest of the folks just have to ask. Many of them just dream about sometime being a cop, so they will know the difference. |

If you have to ask if your a cop, then your not a cop. And quite frankly anymore if I have an LEO question I send a PM to a verified LEO that I trust. Being grown up has less to do with doing what you want to. And more to do with not doing everything you are able to do. |

You can be a Cop AND a LEO but you might be a LEO AND not a Cop. Being technically confered by a legal definition as a LEO is one thing. But being a cop, well, you know, that may be much different. Being a cop (yes, our deputies, too ...just a generic term for us all.) ... this is what defines that more pure meaning of 'The Family', or 'The Thin Blue Line', or our cop version of Band of Brothers, or the Warrior. In a great many instances he/she is but are they a COP, a Police Officer , A Deputy Sheriff? In most cases NO WAY , NO HOW, UH NO, ARE YOU KIDDING, IS THIS A TEST? In many municipalities it is a collateral duty of a police officer which just consist of taking the troublesome animal to the Human Society or to the old gravel pit.. Yes Animal Control may issue citations but very seldom are they empowered to make arrest. LEO YES, COP NO. |
