I'm on the verge of purchasing a concealed carry weapon, and have it narrowed down to the Glock 23 (.40 cal) or the Glock 32 (357 Sig). What are your thoughts about these two? (I won't be able to check back for a day, but your help is appreciated!) Thanks in advance.

Sarge,

If you haven't spent any time on the range with either...you might do that to see which YOU prefer...either should be a great choice, both calibers have good terminal ballistics....you may want to consider ammo availability issues...but otherewise...flip a coin

Like stated before both are great, but I would check the ammo situation out . The 357 sig is about the same boat as the 10mm 29 I carry in my pov, it packs a wallop but at a heffty price. I'm still doing testing on which cost the most to feed the ammo for the 10mm or the gas for my truck. LOL!

The 23 is a great gun. Perfect size for carry and the .40 cal round is a great caliber. You get the best of both worlds with it. If you want some higher powered rounds for the .40, go to www.doubletapammo.com  . They have ammo that will make your .40 perform in the same ballistic ranges as a 10mm. But either way you can't go wrong with Glock.

I agree with fullcontactfighter, my choice would be the 23 but that is just my opinion.  Plus I carry a 40 cal. Glock at work so that's what I am used to and I can use the department ammo for it also so it costs me nothing there.  I prefer to carry something close to what I use at work and to use the same ammo so it is cost effective but mainly because I feel it is just easier if ever involved in a shooting as far as the aftermath.  Most of the time if I do carry off duty I carry my duty weapon anyway.  That way if I ever am forced to use it I can say that is the weapon I always use and the weapon I am most proficient with.

If your set on a Glock, I would choose the G30.  While the .357SIG is a fantastic round, cost and availability are factors.  Even though I carry a .40 S&W chambered weapon every day, I prefer the .45ACP over the .40S&W.  This is mostly due to the amount of felt recoil and the ability to produce quicker follow up shots with greater accuracy out of factory loads.  I would be willing to take the 10 rounds of .45ACP instead of the 13 of the other 2.

Best bet would be to shoot all of em if you can.  I prefer the G21SF over the G22 hands down so for a concealed carry the G30 would be my choice.

Thanks for the insight. I agree with what you're saying: the beauty to the 357 Sig round is the wallop, and virtually no feed problems due to the bottleneck design; the downside is price and potential availability.

Full CF - I'll check on the ammo at dbltap. Are you aware of any  issues encountered in using hot loads in the Glock 23 frame? Thanks again all.

I have had a G23 for over 10 years.  I have put THOUSANDS of round thru it with no malfunctions that were shooter induced.. I would go with the G23, IMHO..

Either would be a nice choice but I personally carry the PG30 .45 Cal SubCompact and it is the best weapon I have ever had.

Any of you had experience shooting the G27 or G26?  I was wondering what your thoughts were with a sub compact (for off duty).

As was I, since concealing that baby would be impossible without something practical, like say, oh, a DUFFEL bag

Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! High breach pressure of the S&W 40 is giving us some grief at work with broken trigger pins and firing pins.......
