Posted 4 months ago To all you LEO-folk. whether cop, C/O, deputy, or the LEO of a interesting variety, a couple of questions for you... Why the heck would you post a provoking comment in a female member's photo area ? (or visa versa..) I have read numerous comments from LEOs on the site that have a flair to patronizing the BB or other gender with things like: "Hottie", or "sexy", etc or other comments with an innuendo twist. Second question for ya: Would your Chief, Sheriff, department or agency head think anything of your post ? Sort of like, "Hey, Chief, lookit what I posted?" This discussion comes from viewing many, many comments and tributes from people with the itty-bitty badge (LEO verification indicator) and some of their accompanying remarks. Friends, if you want to have the freedom to make these kinds of comments on a public forum, then consider having your badge removed. Change up your profile to be just any schmo. Then you can be just like anyone else. Listen, I am not a prude by any means. But if we are moving forward with a sense of dignity and respect, then show some class. And, this certainly is not for most of the respected LEOs on the site. But there are some out there that don't help our profession with comments that kinda undermine our careers. This is not meant to be a doggone rant. It is simply a heads up. Strength and honor, fellow LEOs. 10-8... (Comment & post ... or read & bump...thanks) "We should remember that one man is much the same as another, and he is Best, who is trained in the severest school." | Posted 4 months ago Not to mention giving ammo to cop-hater trolls, who don't need any more reasons to talk trash about us. Thanks for the reminder Sarge. |

| Posted 4 months ago I agree. Never say anything in public you can not explain in the Chief's Office the next morning. You never know who is listening or watching and it may just end up on the front page of the hometown newspaper... I have had more than one officer get jammed up over something like this. For so long as one hundred men remain alive, we shall never under any conditions submit to the domination of the English. It is not for glory or riches or honours that we fight, but only for liberty, which no good man will consent to lose but with his life. | Posted 4 months ago I've seen fellow officers lose their badge, their marriage, and Peace Officer license to Badge Bunnies. I wouldn't want to see it happen to any one else. |

| Posted 4 months ago Just like reviewing policies, procedures and general orders, Nikk. Gotta 'review' this stuff every now and then.... | Posted 4 months ago Sometimes comments should be left un-said and left in your own mind. I think its very degrading not just to the person doing it, but to their department and others who are honroable. I also feel if they are single and would like to find a date, girlfriend or wife what ever it may be, then do so on another site, in person, with out the title or badge by your name. Just my opinion…. |

| Posted 4 months ago Good advice gentlemen. I have to admit that when I first started on PL I flirted once of twice in public. If I could take it back I certainly would. I have matured much (I hope) from listening to your advice. I am not a prude either, but I have learned (the easy way by listening to the seasoned older guys) that flirting and other unprofessional what not is best done privately with trusted friends. I reject your reality and submit my own. |

| Posted 4 months ago Amen to this post!!!! We want to get rid of them, not encourage them. If your an LEO and BB's are your thing, do me and everyone else a favor and take'm all b/c we dont want them!!! One concept I never understood was how there was all these LEO's and LE personnel that are always making posts on how they are so against BB's and what they stand for but they will be the first ones to provoke them and give them the exact attention they come to this site for.... I dunno maybe its just the way a man's mind works.... *Dispatchers Save Seconds....Seconds Save Lives* |

| Posted 4 months ago Sarge your right but have you looked at some of the photos...Maybe they should be removed as well....As pointed out by my 19 year old son who is soon to be joining the ranks...He got sick of this site because there are a bunch of women on here trying to snag a cop to date...I have come across it the opposite way. My photos are far from anything but family oriented...Took me a week to get rideof some guy emailing me...Told him to get his badge certification and came up with some excuse as to why he couldn't. I didn't come on here to date but I have made a couple of real good friends. |

I like that idea! kinda like the old hometown newspapers that lists the DUI's and the john's that get locked up. "the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of moral crisis, do nothing." Dante |

| Posted 4 months ago no doubt this is not the place for certain pics and especially for certain comments. i am not sure whats worse really. is it the comments made to some of the pics or the comments made in the tribute box? besides ASK A COP being taken off here, the tributes area is the absolute biggest joke on here! i agree that there is definitely a time and a place for all those pictures and comments....JUST NOT HERE! LIFE'S JOURNEY IS NOT TO ARRIVE AT THE GRAVE SAFELY IN A WELL PRESERVED BODY BUT RATHER TO SLIDE IN SIDEWAYS, TOTALLY WORN OUT, SHOUTING "HOLY SHIT....WHAT A RIDE" |

I agree, but unfortunately in this line of work no matter how much you try and get rid of these kinds of females they will always exist. I give alot of credit tho to the mods on here b/c they are pretty good about making sure that if a photo is to provocative or inappropriate they get it removed asap. *Dispatchers Save Seconds....Seconds Save Lives* |

| Posted 4 months ago If you wouldn't say it in church or to your mom, or grand ma then don't say it. There's enough turds out there bringing down the credibility of LEO's without doing it to ourselves. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |

Very true. They are clearly on this site for the wrong reasons. This is not just an extension of MySpace or FaceBook or some such. Many here are trying to have serious discussion on a professional website. TheSarge is absolutely correct. If you feel the need to stoke your ego in that manner, then don't bother getting verified. Remain an anonymous schmuck. All this stuff can and probably should get back to your dept. Are you a credit or an embarassment? |

| Posted 4 months ago I personally don't like the idea of the friends deal and the pics and comments thing. Seems kinda myspace like. Kinda creepy. This is why I stopped accepting friend requests. Weird overall. |

| Posted 4 months ago Excellent post and point!!! Not wishing to be labled a "Troll", "Prude", or cause any troubles here but since this was brought up I thought I'd add my comments. And with me being a former (non-Retired) LEO, a US Air Force Veteran, Husband, Father, and Christian (although not the one I should be) I've seen a lot of behavior on here that could bring all LEOs into a "bad light". I had made some comments in another post not long ago about how being on the Internet can be fun as you hide anonymously behind your keyboard and throw out insults, threats and such just like what has been brought up here. Now, again I have thick skin, but while it is sometimes difficult to completely understand a message that is written as opposed to spoken can sometimes lead to a total misunderstanding with some people. Inappropriate comments, remarks, or suggestive ideas will most likely surface on any and all web-sites when many different people from all around get together. And, yes, while we're all adults (for the most part) we should try to remember to respect each other regardless of what our backgrounds may be. I've not been a member here very long but I've seen some things said that makes me question a few of those (verified) LEOs moral fiber. |
