There was recently a police shooting in my hometown of Lexington Kentucky. According to the media there was a domestic disturbance at a house. Apparently when a woman (the victim) tried to leave her house the male (suspect) followed her out armed with an unknown assault riffle. When officers, according to the press, told the suspect to drop his gun he turned and pointed the rifle at police in which one officer fired multiple rounds (unknown as to how many rounds) striking the suspect. The suspect survived and his still at a local hospital. After a couple of days the suspects family DEMANDED answers as to why he was shot. On a local television news/webpage the comments the community were leaving were appauling. People were saying quote "Why did the officer have to shoot more than once." The police had to set up a special conference with the suspects family to answer questions on why he was shot. Why is it when a police officer shoots someone lawfully the community freaks out about it..but what happens when a cop get's shot...they dont say a damn word. Why does a community who is suppose to support police do this?

Happens all the time. My little boy with the AK-47 didn't mean no harm! The cops should have shot the gun out of his hand! TOO MUCH BULLSHIT FROM THE TELEVISION SHOWS.

It wouldn't surprise me. I bet up to that point he was an outstanding citizen or at least that's how his family will portray him.

I've heard that same moron song and dance before:  "He's a good boy, the cops just had it in for him.  He goes to church every Sunday.  I'm his momma and i know he never done nothin' wrong.  Cops are just looking for somebody to shoot.  You violated my civil rights!.

What a load of crap.  Years ago we stopped teaching morals in school and at home.  Also, no critical thinking skills.  Idiots can't understand that their actions have consequences, and that you must be responsible for your actions.  This junk is just the product of what we have taught kids for 50 years.  "It's not my fault, I'm a product of my environment. etc etc etc."  So what, I don't care who's fault it is.  If you point a gun at a cop he will shoot you until you stop.  And that's the way it ought to be.  Stupid SHOULD hurt!

This story just reaffirms my belief that the general public are stupid sheep willing to be lead by the nose by whomever is willing to do the pulling. I can sort of understand the media, though I can't condone their methods. They are in a cutthroat business and controversy sells papers and garners ratings, hence the expression "if it bleeds, it leads". It's unfortunate that this individual was shot but that's the inevitable consequence of his actions. It's like ccso8642 said, "Stupid should hurt", a sentiment with which I wholeheartedly agree.

There are a lot of ignorant people out there. Then you have people like Sharton and Jesse Jackson who make a living off of stuff like this.

We are the country's toilet paper especially when the opposing side come in second place. Since no one has to be responsible for their actions anymore EXCEPT FOR US we have to sit down and explain to people why the actions they made were wrong and the JUSTIFIED actions we make are necessary. Almost like speaking to a little kid these days. Everyone is sissyfied and looking for and excuse to get a free ride.

Same old story, different scumbag.  Happens every time a LEO has to shoot someone.  Knock on wood, I never had to and hope and pray that I never do but I know several guys who were FORCED TO which is how the media should portray those stories, especially one that is clear cut.

One guy in my area many years ago arrived at the scene of a domestic where the accused male had already stabbed his girlfriend and her teenage sister to death.  He was the second officer there and the suspect, still with knife in hand was walking around the vehicle where his and the dead girlfriend's infant child was seated in a car seat with the 2 dead females still laying on the front lawn.  He threatened to kill the infant as the the first officer was attempting to subdue him but then the suspect turned suddenyl and went after the first officer with the knife at which time the second officer shot and killed the suspect before the 1st officer could fire a shot.  Needless to say the family of the scumbag who had killed his girlfriend and an innocent child (her sister) and then attempted to stab a cop went crazy.  They actually attempted to drive to that town in groups looking for retaliation against the officer in question.  Needless to say they were stopped by the next town over on their way there and were politely told to go home before someone else gets hurt.  The officer's young son even faced torment from young schoolmates who teased him about his dad being a killer and things like that.  All over a more than clear cut case of proper and more than justified use of deadly force which is exactly what the case in your town sounds like.

And people wonder why we get so disgusted with the way we are treated and looked upon.......Jeeeesh!!!!

Lexington news is no differant then the national news and if you are wearing a badge then you have a target on you at all times.....And then there are the wolves in sheep's clothing that is always pointing fingers saying "Well if the police did....." and the sheepy lil followers that are "baaahh" right behind them whining and crying about it then yes the news will go with the flow and see it their way...

I get so sick of hearing how the so called "victim's" didn't do anything even when it is right on video and then they still make excuses!!! UGH!!

I think the police chief SHOULD hold a press conference.  He should explain that the officer had to shoot the suspect as many times as he did as the suspect refused to comply until he was shot three, four, or however many times the guy was hit.  The chief should then go on to say that there is an internal investigation underway to determine why the suspect survived and pendining the outcome of the investigation the department may go to a larger calibre, or if the officer is found to be at fault will receive some additional firearms training to ensure he can put the round into the X ring next time.

Happened just the other day in Chicago, subject with a long record including weapons violations was stopped by the police got out gun in hand and was killed by officers. The family has filed a wrongful death suit!

Whose to blame: LAWYERS who get paid win or lose, the media, Jackson & Sharpton and the families who are lead to believe that even if they can't win the department will cough up some money and it's a way to get back at the officer!

You point, I shoot. Plain and simple.

It was once said the way to understand men is to understand their basic principles. 1 All men need to feel they are better than at least one other person. 2 Man naturally accumulates objects. 3 Man naturally feels his objects maybe less superior than his neighbors. 4 Men are naturally driven to improve his position in comparison to what he knows about others.

People don't understand, you shoot till the threat is gone. !,2, 10 rounds whatever it takes. We go home. We have familys too. The family would do what if he shot one of us. Hell with him.

Isn’t that part of why the FBI switched from the 9mm to the 10mm after they got their asses kicked in Miami in 1986 in the Platt/Matix shootout? The FBI Firearms Training Unit said they didn’t care what caliber they switched to as long as it started with a .4-

{btw-no disrespect is intended towards the FBI or LEOs…just stating facts}

Well, support for the police is at an all time low. And for the perp's family, just give it a rest. You are trained to fire mutliple times to eliminate the threat of gunfire towards officers. The police could have shot him once and he still could have been able to return fire.
