Absolutely not, it's not an emergency vehicle, the driver is not EVOC trained it shouldn't happen ever. If they want to be police they need to become police. Yes, pick up the phone and call 9-1-1, observe and report, and thats the only signal they need, however if it is an alarm call, we probably already know and are responding as trained. |

| Posted 4 months ago I mark enroute when there is an alrm call on the hospital campus. If I am driving the van I guess I can turn on the flashing yellow lights. |

| Posted 4 months ago Security is NOT LEO.... there is absolutely no reason to violate traffic safety laws....getting into a vehicle collision because of an alarm call is a BAD thing.... LEOs get evoc training to help prevent those from happening and even then they still sometimes have crashes... Besides more than 90% of security alarm calls are either false or accidental activations. That's why folks have to pay security to respond to 'em so that LEOs are not tied up chasing down false alarms more than they already are... I'm not "really" a troll....I just love changing my avatar... because...

I don't want to approach a building blacked out and tactical and have an untrained security officer pull up with his "signal" activated and backlight me or let the badguy know I'm there. Leave it to the LEO's. I can't think of a security job outside of Iraq that pays enough for you to respond prior to the police anyway. |

| Posted 4 months ago Like others have said...regardless of his/her training, he or she is not an LEO. In my state, only emergency vehicles are allowed to break certain state traffic laws in response to an emergency. There is no justification for exceptions. If there really is an emergency response needed...call the police. If a security guard/agent wants to drive code, apply to a LE agency. Honestly, there may be some security personnel who are capable and maybe even trained for it. But there are plenty of others who aren't, and wouldn't be able to handle the responsibility. |

| Posted 4 months ago The civil liability to your company, if you violate traffic law, would be huge if you had an incident. I'd say under no circumstances should the security vehicle run code to an alarm. If it is a true emergency call the police. I voted for an American hero not an American zero. |

| Posted 4 months ago Ok this is getting old and in my opinion it was a stupid question in the first place. Security are not LE, period, end of story. Sit your post, defend yourself and your charge, and call us for the rest. If you want more responsibility the BALL UP and go to an academy. I paid my own way through the academy with college loans and worked a full time job at night to boot. It was tough but now I am a successful and happy Police Officer. You can be to if you don't have a Felony conviction or a domestic assault conviction, possess a valid driver's license, and are smart enough to study and learn. So quit asking stupid questions and go to school!!!!! Sgt. Gilpin |

Buy a cell phone and call it in. Having an armed secuity guard holding a weapon only makes the job harder for the cop. I personally would handle the guard as an armed perp if it happened in my city. Being a Tyrant does not make one a Leader! |
