The Akron F.O.P. is organizing a support rally for local law

enforcement Monday, July 21st at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Justice

Building (Police Dept.) at 217 S. High St., followed by a one block

walk to City Hall where City Council will be meeting.  For those of you

that are unaware, two Akron police officers were forced to use deadly

force against an armed (handgun) subject.  The fact that the man had a

gun is not in question, yet City Council President Marco Sommerville

DOES NOT SUPPORT THE POLICE!!!  He was quoted in the July 15 Beacon

Journal saying that he has "...confidence in the police auditor and he

has not made a statement yet."

There have been numerous tragedies that have occurred in Summit County

recently, with the killing of Twinsburg Officer Josh Miktarian this

past Sunday night being the most grim reminder of what law enforcement

officers face in this area and country every day.  I urge all of you to

tell as many people about this support rally, and am asking that you

bring as many people as possible to this rally.  Let's show Akron, and

all of Summit County that the overwhelming majority of citizens here

support law enforcement and appreciate the risks they take on a daily

basis.
