Stress and dealing with it

Posted 4 months ago No matter line of work you are in from Police, Security, Corrections, ect. We all have great deals of stress to deal with especially after something extreme has happend. After work you come home to your family and you sit back, relax, rest for the next day of duty. You think though, you try to figure out what may have gone, what you could have done to prevent the situation and how you could done different to fix the situation. It sticks to your mind. You try to forget about it and move on but there are demons that always haunt you. You think, you are only one man with so many obligations, so much weight to lift. You did what you had to do. Period. You did your best, now move on. yet it plays in your mind over and over. My question to all the LEO's out there... How do you deal with this stress? My respect to all thoughs out there with years of law enforcement, No body will ever understand what you go through. liberty or death, what we so proudly hail, once you provoke her. You will hear the rattling of her tail. She will return with a deadly bite, so dont tread on me |

| Posted 4 months ago I think if I had to do my job full time (M-F, 8-5) I would literally explode. Fortunately, my schedule works out to be about 14 days a month that we have to work. I have yet to figure out how to keep my stress level at a minimum on some posts at work. I get to the point sometimes where I feel I should post a sign "next person to piss me off will PAY WITH THEIR LIFE". I used to bring this stress home, but I have at least learned to walk out of work and leave the stress there. There is no easy answer to this, some people excercise, listen to music, etc. "Noone can make you feel inferior without your consent" Eleanor Roosevelt |

| Posted 4 months ago At the end of each stressfull day I go home and play with my dogs. That always helps. They seam to know when I've had bad doy or am in a bad mood and are always more effectionate and are always excited to see me walk through the door. Sgt. Gilpin |

| Posted 4 months ago I like to bang the crap out of my wife, that seams to relieve a lot of stress. Seriously though, I vent a bit to some of my carpool buddies- then go home and blow off some steam if the day was bad...usually, mowing the lawn or just doing some chores until I'm tired (mind you this is after I just got off work too) gets me in an enjoyable mood so I can socialize like a normal human being. Otherwise, I'd probably snap the neck of the first dumbass I meet... ¡GØÐ HņH ÑØ ƒÜR¥ †HÂÑ À Pϧ§ËР؃ƒ PÁRņRØØPËR! Ríø†!™ |

I agree ! Only I play with my insane cat! I am glad I live alone. After working a fatal MVA in which a DPS brother of mine (Pima SO did the invest) burned to death in a Vicky back in 97, my wife (EX NOW-the bitch!) told me to "get over it, you have worked lots of fatals" She also told me in the hospital (after I was shot during a bad Narc "buy") "This comes with the job" I am surprised that I didn't turn into a wife beater. Can ya understand why I divorced this broad? I got the HOUSE (Sold it and doubled my money!) and she got all of her damned bills. Naw, I am not bitter! Understand my "trust issues" that I speak of in my profile? Dumb people are scary, and dumb people that think they are smarter than everyone else are even scarier!!-Me

| Posted 4 months ago after getting off a shift I would come home, lift a little and crash out. but on my days off its on! I go Shooting, blow stuff up. Go to the movies or the bar or both. I Will go hiking through the desert and moutains, shoot furry desert creatures. Even volunteering helps relieve alot for me. But there are time when Me and my fiance would fight or i would snap very easily on the smallest stuff. Ignorance is one thing that will make me snap. I would be at the car wash cleaning my truck and the douche bag across from me would pump his music for the whole world to hear, I just wanna walk over there take his keys and jam them down his throat. The world is so full of ignorance and disrespect for each other sometimes i feel as if i cannot take it. Stress just gets the best of me sometimes. I think maybe i need a vacation or like what riot said, Just bang the crap outa my fiance more often lolz

That's lovely, I wonder how she would feel about this post. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |

I think the only stress I felt as a security guard was after recieving my paycheck. I go to the gym and run right after my shift this way I go home tired instead of angry. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |
