I went in to an all inclusive with my wife in 2007 to Punta Cana, Sandals Resort.  You land at this grass thatched airport, run the gauntlet of dudes trying to carry your luggage, get on a bus and drive over unpaved roads for up to an hour or two to your resort.  There were some "whew" glad we didn't stay there moments and "holy shit" moments when we saw where we could have stayed.  Sandals was middle of the road.  Beach was great.  Plenty of palapas, shade to be found.  Unfortunately some of our most intimate moments were ruined by maurading gangs of kids whose parents let them run wild at the resort.

The food ranged from....well it was the same every day and every meal.  The fresh fruit was great though.  I learned I liked Goat Meat and Rice, apparently a Dominican delicacy.  The alcoholic beverages at an all inclusive, disappointed.  They had El Presidente on tap and it ranged from good cold beer to stank rancid warm beer.  The two bottles of La Bohemia in my fridge every morning were a godsend.  '

Anyway, I forgot about the water thing and I ended up with parasites.  A trip to the Dr. was terrifying but I made it home ok. 

I would not go back.
