R.I. man arrested with 0.491 blood alcohol level <!--startclickprintexclude-->

Stanley Kobierowski was taken to a hospital, put in the detoxification unit and sedated, said Maj. Steven O'Donnell. He was arraigned Tuesday on charges of driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, and he was released after promising to appear Friday at a court hearing.

"The person's lucky they survived," O'Donnell said. "There's no doubt he would have gotten killed or killed someone if he had continued on the route he was taking."

A phone listing for Kobierowski could not be found, and he did not have a lawyer in court Tuesday.

Kobierowski, 34, of North Providence, was arrested after he drove into a highway message board on Interstate 95 in Providence, O'Donnell said.

After police arrived, Kobierowski had trouble getting out of the car, then grabbed it and refused to move, forcing troopers to carry him to the breakdown lane before taking him back to their barracks, O'Donnell said.

A breath test showed blood alcohol readings of 0.489%, followed by 0.491, O'Donnell said, the highest readings state officials could remember for someone who didn't end up dead.

The legal limit in Rhode Island is 0.08. A level of 0.30 is classified as stupor, 0.4 is comatose and 0.5 is considered fatal, according to the health department.

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear.

Alive .38  and he did a fairly good job on the FST, but he was passed out in the traffic lane with his foot on the brake.

Dead .68 on a 21 year old girl....was so very sad.  I had met her a few months earlier on a call.  The guys came in contact

with her and she was naked...and being the only female on the shift I drew the short straw to dress her.  I tried talking to her

the next morning after she sobered up.  She was a beautiful girl, but death is oh soooo ugly.

Driving; A female, .389% BAC, by blood draw. Ran three off the road before she got to my city. A DNR warden truck had to cut her off to get her to stop. Refused SFST and intoximeter, thankfully it was her 2nd, force draw. She never fought it, paid her citation and did 6 days in jail on weekends only.

Protective Custody: A female, .468. Professional to the hilt! 1.75ml bottle daily with a 12 pack of beer wash. Sobered up for about 2 years, fell off the wagon, and hit hard. Still locked up w/health care provider.

Career Alcoholic  .42 on the BAC.  Couldn't drive, understandably so.  He was able to walk, talk and blow into the BAC.  Plead guilty, and haven't seen him since.

Had a guy drive his truck off a 20-foot cliff, somehow managed not to roll it, and broke his axel.  He blew a .40 in the field and a .387 on the intox.  He was able to walk and talk without much slurring.  He did, however, have no idea where he was, where he was going, or where he had been.

It's been a while, but I want to say .35 BrAC which is a pain in the @$$ because when they hit .3 the jail wont take them I have to sit with them at the Hospital until they are under .3

.519% BAC by blood draw, alive and breathing aftering passing out at a light and then rolling into a parked car.  I roll up and see the two cars together, nobody called it in or anything.  She was passed out, empty bottle of Vodka and rock glass on the passenger floor, another 1/2 empty bottle next to that.  She woke up in ambulance on way to hospital.  Even at a .519 she was wide awake and wanted to fight me......LOL.  I kept the lab report for proof since I'm sure it will be the highest drunk I ever get plus nobody believes me when I tell them. Career alcoholic and going nowhere fast.  Kinda sad but you can't help those that won't help themselves or don't want the help!!!

It was actually a her, and when I first found her there was no HGN'ing this girl.  Although she was cute,  I don't think any banana could have done the trick at that moment to get her attention if you know what I mean.  LOL.

.555, .519! Whew!  Been workin' DUI's for 15 years now.  Highest I ever got was .36, walkin' & talkin' just like you and me, my boss didn't think he'd blow .10(yep, back in the day).  Was his forty-eleventh dui.   Highest I ever saw was .41, workin' for the S.O., drove her car into a lake & OHP brought her in after the hospital stay.

Isn't that crazy? He's probably driving drunk as we speak right now- you realize that right? It's funny how there are so strict laws about purchasing guns, but nothing to check a background to purchase a car...

There was a show on the History Channel a few nights ago about policing in Alaskea.  The State Troopers picked up an Alaskan woman on a warrant.  She had a BAC of .47!!  She didn't even seem drunk.  I guess she's an alcoholic with a very high tolerance to booze.  Most would be dead with a .47.

Had a rather large native american who had a .5(way up there), I don't remember the exact score but it wasn't the booze that killed him it was the bridge he hit with his cycle!

The highest I ever made an arrest for was .29BAC  The highest I ever saw was when I was still a communications officer and ran the intoximeter for one of my officers. A female who had been swimming I think in some "home brew" registered .34BAC
