Cops and donuts
Posted 7 months ago I was talking with two Border Patrol agents at Kennedy Airport the other night, one a retired NYPD. We were on the subject of donuts, and the one agent asked where the connection between donuts and cops got started. The NYPD retiree said he had no idea, because, although he drank enough coffee, he never ate donuts. I answered, my take on it would be that most donuts shops are open 24 hours, and that's how cops got that reputation. Has anyone ever researched how and why people associate cops and donuts? |

Posted 7 months ago Re-run! Anyway I think its the fact that most coffee shops offer a pastry of some sort with the drinks they sell.

Posted 7 months ago Jim no need to be sorry, someone needs to learn their manners when dealing with a respected member of this site. Jim this is not a dupe post the topic of donuts has been discussed but not how the myth came about and cops likeing them like a crack whore and crack. I think MidMOCo needs to appologize.

Posted 7 months ago LCarvin said: I second this, except for the coffee part. Us coppers in Texas don't eat that many donuts. We eat a butt load of tacos. Seems that tacos are more fattening too, unfortunately.

Posted 7 months ago I think it's because most police officers look fat and out of shape, thus, like we have been sitting around eating donuts all night. Or day, if you work that shift.

Posted 7 months ago 0900 sharp. Myself, my partner, and the Sgt. all meet at the local donut shop. I normally have a cinnamon bun and an apple fritter along with a large cup of straight black coffee. Sometimes I'll wash 'em with a Diet Coke.... :) (Hey! I have to watch my figure!)

Posted 7 months ago We were in the squad room discussing this topic the other day. The senior LEOs were talking to us young bucks about how coffee and donuts are "out" now and all us youngins are on cappucinno and bagels from starbucks rather then their prefered hang out, mildreds dinner-in-a-trailer. And how that must be our problem, we're not "manly" enough to drink coffee. They were laughin at us pretty hard. It was pretty damn funny though.
