First fishing trip

Posted 5 months ago Took my son on his first day of fishing with my wife and father-in-law. After a lazy trip around the lake in the father-in-law's boat we decided to let my son fish off the bank where we could see lots of sun fish right below the surface of the water. We wormed up a hook and let him drop it in the water. You could see 20 fish rush the line before you could say pull he had 1 hooked. He ended up geting 4 of them before all the worms were gone. He was incredibly happy as happy with number 4 as he was with number 1 lol. I took pics of each fish. I am going tonight to get them developed. As soon as I figure out how to post them in this thread they will be here.
Now I know a fathers joy of fishing with his son :) |

Posted 5 months ago Great Willie, there is nothing and I mean absolutely nothing better than fishing with your child whether it be your son or daughter. Just watching the expression of wonder and joy on their face is awesome. It's better than catching a world record. I did that first many years ago and it's as freash in my minds eye as if it happened 10 minutes ago. I was fortunate enough to share that with all 4 of my kids and a few of the grandkids. It's an absolutely wonderful experience. You know the best part is that I relive it each time I go out with them even up to this day.

Posted 5 months ago I can not wait to talk my grandson on his first fishing trip. If you can not face your fears you conquer nothing.

Posted 4 months ago Getting ready to take my daughter on her 1st trip. She has already been in the raft and loves the water. At 2 I am not sure how she will take to fishing. There is a local lake stocked with rainbows so hopefully we can get her some fun little fish. She also really likes her pink princess fishing pole.

Posted 4 months ago If you love fishing with your child and they like it, find in your area where they have junior tournaments for children. It's a blast and a great learning experience. Just wait when your do, they will catch more than you sometimes.

Posted 3 months ago My grandmother (mom's mom) took me on my first fishing trip. She lived in Tonawanda NY. I'm pretty sure my first fish was a perch. She has this habit of dipping her live bait in chewing tobacco...lol I guess it worked, we always caught something. I took my nephews on their first fishing trip last summer in Greenville NC. They each caught a few sunnys...lol Not much but they were pretty pleased with themselves. I'm proud I could pass something like that down, teaching someone that...and it's cool the girls in the family are the fisherman or should I say fisherwoman...
