| Posted 3 months ago Don't, don't, don't get a kimber ultra carry!!!!!!!!! My friend just purchased one about a month ago and has had horrible problems with jamming. Come to find out after talking to many other gun shop owners and police suppliers is that the 3" kimbers ar prone to jamming. A couple dept. in Ohio around where I live, the officers bought them for off duty. They quickly got rid of them because of so many jamming issues. Now the 4" kimbers are great. I personally like the colt defender out of the bunch. If you can I would personally go with the Springfield champion operater. It is a 4" that comes equiped with a light rail and is only 30 ounces. I also was looking for a compact .45 and did a ton of research on all of the choices and tested many of them at ranges that rent guns. If you can go with the springfield. If those are the brands your stuck with, I would go with the colt defender with the 4.25" barrel or a kimber tle, sis or tactical in their pro (4") versions. But please don't go with a 3" model. Your life is to important to risk a jam that they are so prone to do. The springfield champion operater's usually go for 800 to 900 dollars. You can find some nice ones on www.gunsamerica.com or talk to your local dealer if anybody has one around the area. Currently the factory is out of them so you'll have to find someone who has one already because like I said the factory is backordered. Best of luck and choose wisely. |

| Posted 3 months ago By the way, unless your set on a 1911, have you considered a Glock 30 as well? |

| Posted 3 months ago Just my suggestion. Try the Glock 23 for off duty. |

That is a great gun as well. I was just sticking with the .45 because of the question. The 23 is one that I carry in the rotation and I love it. I have never had any problems with it and it is extremely accurate. Good call. |
