For the past 7 years I have been trading police patches. I find it to be a nice way to meet officers from all over and enjoy trading. I recently sent a Sandy Springs Police patch to a very tiny little Police Department back home in Mars, PA  and have tried to contact Chiefkcr to send me back the patch he promised. It's a shame we do our part and send our patch, however we have to pull teeth (over a month) to get the other party to live up to his/her end of the trade.   I have sent several emails and he keeps informing me he is very busy. NO ONE is that busy that you can't lick a stamp (dang you don’t even have to lick them anymore)  and drop it in the mail!      Just thought I would share my frustration.......... in 7 years this is the first time this has happened.

PS  don't do a trade with (Chiefkcr) from Mars, PA..... Worst part he is the Chief, what’s that say about the agency?!

LOL...he can't be that darn busy. I am quit sure he has a secretary. Thanks for the warning.

Thanks for the heads up bro. I know that you are a good guy to trade with as we traded patches. I always hope that at least LEO's are true to their word on trades.

If this guy is a PL member might I suggest taking it to the fight club.

Yes, he is a member "CHIEFKCR" and what is the fight club?  Sounds good to me!

Generally what I do in a situation like this is offer to send a self addressed stamped envelope. True, it is one more step on my side, but it may be a good way settle it down and finally get the patch.

I've spoken with chiefkcr in the past, although never traded with him, and he's always been very responsive. I'd reach out to him again and offer to send him a stamped envelope to send his patch to you in.

i used to do this, i would go around to local agencies and if i was on a trip somwhere try to go to that local agency and ask for a patch or buy it if need be, but i have noticed being in a post 9/11 world it is nearly impossiable to go into a department off the street and be able to get a patch, they just dont do it anymore.

Once again I will attempt to reach out. It's a crying shame I have to go to this level to get the patch. However, I under stand your point!

I have to agree with anyone who says, "Enjoy, but Beware..")

I have been trading patches since I got into LE work, and only after I got burned by a couple "promised" returns from some LEO's in NC and VA did I make the decision to only do trades right then and there, with no need for follow-ups. Just got back from a group bike trip to the Tail of the Dragon in NC/TN, and made a couple trades while there (one from an on-duty PD officer and another from a fellow bike-riding LEO from a SO in VA.) It goes so much smoother and is less of a hassle for both parties involved when an even trade occurs and you don't have to worry about whether or not the other LEO has completely forgotten his/her end of the agreement, and two empty months have gone by.  The SASE is a good idea, but again, only if the other LEO takes the 15 secs to drop in the patch, seal it, and drop it in the mailbox.  My motto is:  take a handful of your agency's patches before a trip, make an even trade each time, and you'll return with the exact same number. No muss, no fuss

Have you tried to give him a call.  If he is the Chief of Police, I'm sure he is very busy and the thought of mailing a patch is not at the top of his list on things to do.

Yes, I have called him. He is Chief of Police of a very small PA town. I am sure he has time to drop a patch in the mail. I had time to send my patch that he wanted. As have the other "tons of patch traders" over the last 8 years. If one does not have time to trade the patch. Then one should not ask to trade patches??!!

Correct?

I agree with ya there, SSPD....I have been hosed a few times on patch trades too..its tough when its on the computer and you dont get the face to face..might have to write this one off, and now other LEOs on PL know about him...

Best of luck here.  I have been fairly fortunate in my trades.

The Chief of Mars sent me a message and stated he was sorry he took so long and he mailed my patch out to me today.  I will respond to the Chief today and this will all be laid to rest. Thank you to "Chiefkcr" for finally sending the patch out! Thank you to everyone one here for your advice.  This is now a dead topic!     Thanks!

Good to here that it is final.
