Posted 3 months ago Do you get so involved with the internet that your regular life is impacted by it? Do you spend too much time on the internet that you lose sight of more important issues in life? Do you find that you get angry or frustrated at words on a computer screen? Does your regular day to day routine lack sufficient drama and excitement that you need to find it on the internet or even make some up. I look at the internet as a hobby. I don't take it seriously it does not effect my day to day life, but some people seem so wrapped up in the internet that it runs their lives. When I get to the point where I get more enveloped in drama on the internet because my day to day life does not provide enough then I will change careers. Some people need to step away from the computer and enjoy life again.

| Posted 3 months ago Most times I use the internet as a break from whatever I'm working on. I set my papers aside for a minute and poke my head in to see what's going on. I let my computer run and stop by from time to check in. But some people just sit there waiting for someones next word. People get so wrapped up that they lose some control over their sensibilities, and forget that it's words on a computer screen. Pain is weakness leaving the body. It is sad, the internet controls their lives and causes them to become irrational, unprofessional, suicidal. I get on and when I find a lack of anything intelligent going on or people trying to cause drama I just hit the power button and problem solved but others get sucked in like a black hole. | Posted 3 months ago I guess it's just one of those things people get so fixated on and they can't get enough and then it becomes their life, so when the stress gets high enough they feel like their very lives are threatened. It's amazing. I studied sociology in college and find this internet stuff fascinating. You can actually control what people do through the internet, they are like mice sometimes. | Posted 3 months ago I too find it intriguing. I usually use it as break myself from work or when things are going off work. When I find myself getting too wrapped up I close out of the internet. I find sometimes people get wrapped up in their discussions they forget what is going on in the outside world. I try not to let things get to me, because in this line of work I find that there are way more important things going on than anything on the internet. For example, right now an acquaintance of mine who was a Blue Knight died Thursday. I have been busy as a friend to the Blue Knights and President of the local Chapter of COPS to let anything going on the internet, etc get to me. It sure puts things in perspective. |

| Posted 3 months ago As much as there is a fun side to the internet, there is a dark side too!!! Many a person's life has been ruined with their obsession to the internet...families lost, jobs lost, addictions supported, etc!! Lives have even been lost...the internet has allowed predators to get their next victim... Parents PLEASE watch what your kids are doing when they are on the net!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't wait for something to happen to YOU...YOU go out and happen to something!!!! |

| Posted 3 months ago Yup there is life outside the internet, but for those of us with arthritis is provides a way to take one's mind off the discomfort until the meds kick in. I enjoy being on the net, but I do know how to logoff. Doc We are all crazy. It is just a matter of degree. |
