Has anybody gone on a IPA peer professional ride-along in Germany yet.  In 2001 I had the opportunity in Denmark and Sweden and hope to travel to Berlin next spring few a few weeks .  Alles Gute!

For some reason this appears to be a tricky issue with German police. During my last visit there, they said a ride along on patrol would not be possible and simply took me on an "off duty" ride in one of their unmarked rage cars (of course it was a Merzedes-Benz). However, once the chief of the local precinct heard that I was there for a visit, he came out and asked: "Well, why didn't anybody take the deputy on a ride along?" The answer from the officers involved in the planning was "We tried, but were told it's not possible."

To make a long story short, next time I'll visit they're going to make sure I can go on a ride along and see German police work first hand. I guess you have to ask the right person. However, I did organize my stay in Bielefeld, Germany through their PIO office and figured that was the right way to go. Meanwhile, I organize things like that through the IPA.

Let me know if you need any help.

I could only speak for my contry Baden-Württemberg not for Berlin!!!

I think it wounld be diffecult because the injurence will not pay if you got a accident. And the injurence is the country so i think it woud not allowed to thake you on a ride! Iam sorry for that. Maybe some Police Stations will make a eception! Do you know a officer in germany expecielly in Berlin? Maybe he can help you!!! You can also ask a official office!!! Maybe this adress would help you:
