A Border Patrol Agent was poisoned in February while on duty.  (The FBI is still conducting an investigation.)  The result of the poisoning is permanent and damage to his nervous system is ongoing.  As of right now, worker's comp has yet to pick up the case.  The Agent is married with three children.  His medical bills are astronomical.  On a good day he can walk with assistance of an attendee.  At times he is in a wheelchair or bedridden.  He is a great guy and an outstanding Agent.  Please keep him, his family, and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

God bless him... hang the bastard that did it to him, and your new avatair fits the story.

It was once said the way to understand men is to understand their basic principles. 1 All men need to feel they are better than at least one other person. 2 Man naturally accumulates objects. 3 Man naturally feels his objects maybe less superior than his neighbors. 4 Men are naturally driven to improve his position in comparison to what he knows about others.

If you have a article from the new post it so we can read about it.

And He will be in my prayers too, just like details.

Grapevine news only, BP is not releasing any details to the media at this time due to investigation.  I have released all the info I have that can be released at this time.  I will release anything else that I can when it does become available.

UPDATE:

In the ongoing effort to diagnose the extent of the debilitating effects caused by his poisoning, the Agent of the Shelby Border Patrol Station was examined on September 17, 2008, by a team of neurologists.

Doctors at the medical center believe that the Agent was poisoned and now is in the acute stage of his condition. They do not believe that the Agent will suffer further deterioration and are expecting to see improvement in the affected areas of his body. The Agent’s recovery will be a slow process, and he will continue to face daily struggles and combat pain. Continued financial and emotional support will be needed to help the Agent and his family through this long ordeal.

Nationwide fundraising efforts for the Agent are ongoing and gaining momentum.

The Havre Sector Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) members held a raffle that raised $4,290.00 for the Agent Medical Fund. The Laredo Sector MWR members held a bowling tournament that resulted in a generous contribution of over $1,700.00 to the Agent Medical Fund. A benefit dinner and silent auction held on September 25, 2008, at the Shelby, Montana Elks Club. This event was hosted by Pastor Paul Lackey and the Living Faith Baptist Church, Laurel Rideout and the Shelby, Montana Branch of the Wells Fargo Bank, and the agents of the Shelby Border Patrol Station and their families.

The dinner, silent auction, and bake sale generated $12,122.00. The city of Shelby, Montana and the surrounding communities (including our Canadian neighbors) came out in full force in an overwhelming show of support for the Agent’s family. The highlight of the evening was the standing ovation that the Agent and his family received as they made their entrance into the benefit hall.

Agents assigned to the Office of Border Patrol in Washington, DC took up a collection and generously contributed $3,161.00. An additional donation of $3,300.00 was received from the Roger L. Von Amelunxen Foundation. The Advanced Training Branch of the U.S. Border Patrol Academy held a benefit dinner and raffle that raised $3,300.00 for the Moberly Medical Fund. This event was attended by personnel from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Border Patrol agents from across the country.

The U.S. Border Patrol National Shooting Team collected items for a Benefit Raffle during the National Police Shooting Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tickets were sold to members of the teams, representing law enforcement agencies from all over the United States. This raffle raised $5,500.00 which will be deposited in the Agent’s Medical Fund.

Support has been received from far beyond the U.S. Border Patrol family. Donations have come in from law enforcement groups and retired law enforcement officers and agents from across the country. Members of Denton Moberly’s family and extended family have been very generous in their support. The Agent’s previous co-workers, his extended Border Patrol family, and total strangers have expressed their support in innumerable ways.

The Agent’s family would like to express their heartfelt, profound gratitude to all those who have so kindly expressed their support and concern by phone calls, emails, cards, preparing meals, providing childcare, monetary donations, and transportation. They especially want to thank you for keeping them in your prayers.

On Wednesday, October 29, 2008, Special Agent Timothy Fuhrman of the Salt Lake City Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation held a press conference at the Glacier County Courthouse in Cut Bank, Montana to announce a $25,000 reward for information concerning the poisoning of Border Patrol Agent Denton Moberly. Agent Moberly, accompanied by his wife Sheila, attended that press conference. Special Agent Fuhrman also announced the creation of a tip line for reporting information to a 24 hour command center being set up at the Shelby Border Patrol Station.

Referenced by Special Agent Fuhrman and echoed by a press release issued by the FBI, an anonymous source provided information that an employee of a Cut Bank fast food establishment had put some type of poison on a cheeseburger ordered by the “Border Cop.” The source reported that the alleged perpetrator had done this in the past as a joke and thought it was funny. The poison was described by the source as a “farm poison.” The source did not identify the alleged perpetrator of the incident.

Agent Moberly continues to go through medical testing to gauge the extent of the damage caused by the poisoning, and his ability to overcome that damage. He continues to have good days and bad days, but his pain level has been decreasing on his good days. He and his wife have been able to leave the house for short trips outside, which is not something he has been able to do for a while.

Agents are asked to keep Agent Moberly, his wife and family in their prayers.

Just got this info - On October 10, 2008, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Office of Worker’s Compensation Program (OWCP) accepted Agent Moberly’s claim that his illness and subsequent debilitation were the direct result of a workplace-related incident.

They took their sweet time, but finally they did the right thing.
