Do you guys have Deputies or Co-works that fight with each other more then the inmates?? In my facility it seems like shifts are out to get other shifts in trouble. If one Deputy looks bad then the others look better. Any advise on how to deal with this?

By my it seems that the intake areas leave alot of shit for the next tour to take care of.That starts the arguing. If all tours would do their own work it would be heaven.

Its true if every crew that ever worked in a facility pulled their own weight life would be heaven!! Its not that way though.  I always try to make my Upper Administration aware of some of the stuff going on down below and that tends to help.

I think it's mostly a lack of communication for the most part. Like everyone else, shift two hates shift one for not finnishing stuff, and also hates shift three cause we all know they don't do a thing!  Most of the time each shift has different ways of working things and sometimes it goes against what another shift does. I've tried to get certain duty posts on the same page, and for the most part it will work.

Then we have those who just think their stuff don't stink. That's where a lot of my personal shift bickering comes from. One officer thinks that he knows the best way to do everything, even though he's still on his first year. Or flip side one who has been there for the last ten years and is too stuborn to be told to do it another way.  Personally I can get along with 99.9 % of the people out there I think, but even I have a couple at work that just make the shift drag by. *gun to head*

I guess the one thing to try and keep in mind is that we are all adults and have to be responsible for our own actions. I can only control what I do at work, not the person next to me. Now if we can work on the same page, that makes the shift go a lot smoother. At our facility 2nd and 3rds get along fairly well. 2nd shift has a lot of new people and doesn't know any better yet that no one is supposed to like 3rds but we still get along. Our 1st shift has a lot of experienced staff and they can't seem to get along with themselves let alone the other shifts. Again it all comes back to attitudes and the leadership and I must say that ours is lacking to a degree.

The brave have always defined what the rest of us wish to be. But bravery is misunderstood. It is not the absence of fear, but the will to overcome it.

We have a select few that argue but overall we get along, there is a couple that like to sue other staff members when they don't get their way, but everyone has these...right?

Its the same all over and if you think about it you can probably pick the ones that get the fire started. It is easier to get people to follow you complaining then get them to follow you being positive. This is something a good sergeant should put a stop to when they hear the fighting. Cause trust me the inmates are hearing every word that is being said.

If you can not face your fears you conquer nothing.

Maybe in a perfect world......I have actually seen officers go home sick right after shift brief because they don't get along with or like the style (too hard on inmates or too easy on them) of the officer they are put in a section with........

My shift does group lunches on the Sundays that we work and pray together before leaving briefing.
