Just got an e-mail from a sgt. in my dept. with a prayer that his brother-in-law had written. I thought it was awesome, so I'm sharing it with everybody on here. Hats off to Ofc. Charles Crawford with Arlington (TX) PD...awesome job!

The Warrior’s Prayer

Lord, if I pass from this world into yours,

make me your gate keeper.

I am not worthy to walk the streets of heaven, Lord.

The beauty of your kingdom is no place for a man such as me.

But I love you and I love your children.

So let me stand on the wall, Lord.

Make me a guardian of that which I hold dear.

You made me as I am, Lord.

You gave me the skill and ability to look evil in its face

and visit violence on those who would hurt your sheep.

Lord, I do not claim to be a great man or even a brave man,

but my heart is that of the warrior.

You created me so,

and your Spirit completes in me

that which I could not be on my own.

So let me stand on the wall with a shield and spear in my hand,

facing the darkness of the night outside your walls.

I will stand, Lord, on stormy nights and in the cold.

My face, my chest, and my arms are chilled and wet as I face outside the wall

looking for the wolves that come to prey on your flock.

But my back is warm as I feel the glow of all your kingdom holds.

My ears are filled with the sounds of your praises,

as my brothers and sisters extol you in voice.

My heart is strengthened knowing that which I protect

is worth my pain and discomfort.

So I lean forward, Lord into the blackness.

My eyes will stay fixed and vigilant for the enemy.

This is all I ask, Lord.

It is sufficient and just for the warrior.

So as I face the ugliness of this earth,

give me your peace;

your peace in knowing that if I fall,

there is a place for me on the ramparts of Heaven.
