Welcome and some basic rules

Posted 3 months ago Remember, when contacting anyone forward deployed here, it is a public site and operational security (OPSEC) for those members need always be observed for both their safety and those deployed with them. Hopefully this will be a place where both the military deployed and those who wish to support them can join together and interact! But most of all... have fun and be safe! |

| Posted 3 months ago For you newcomers; Jerry and I have been corresponding for awhile and I am currently working on a special, short-term project, to get some items to some of the troops. This can be a GREAT place to give and get information to support our troops. Too often we say, or think, "Hey, I'd really like to do something, but I know there are lots of other people that will do something". May I suggest when you have a thought like that just STOP, pray, and then sit down and write a POSTCARD (doesn't even have to be a lengthy letter) to a military member expressing your hopes and prayers that they will return safely and maybe drop a little bit of personal hometown news. Let's get together and give it a shot! God Bless our Troops and God Bless the USA! Ed Retired AF Security Police Senior Master Sergeant (E-8)/1st Sergeant

| Posted 3 months ago OK, just to clear something up also.... (thanks to a question posed via PM) I did not start this group to get things sent to me or anyone in my unit. I actually prefer to use this group to provide some current unit addresses as I or other members come across them so those who wish to, can send cards, letters, or packages to Any Soldier - and then their unit address. If you know a units address that is forward deployed or overseas, please feel free to include that address.

| Posted 3 months ago How do I get addresses for the troops? I wouls gladly write a post card to any of them...I know how lonely it must be so far away from home...Just let me know by sending it by PM...thanks... I Don't look back for long, I keep looking Forward! |

| Posted 3 months ago When I started this group, I never anticipated the support and membership growth that has happend here. I actully started it because I thougth there may be a few people interested in the conversations I was having with keeneagle and would also appreciate having some of the addresses to send items to the troops. Today, I got on to start the memorial thread, as I felt it only fitting that as we support those already in the fight, we also remember those who gave all in the protection of our freedom. But as I entered the groups main page, I was paused for several minutes at the sight of the number of people now members of this group. That number was.... 911 Somehow, I was meant to see that, and I just had to share it, mainly because I don't believe in coincidences. |

| Posted 3 months ago Let us pray that there will be no more Memorial entries. Thanks again Jerry. Retired AF Security Police Senior Master Sergeant (E-8)/1st Sergeant

| Posted 2 months ago Hi all, I am a retired British soldier with 25 years service. I cannot tell you how much it means, to recieve any type of correspondence from folks back home. To hear from family and friend`s is wonderful, but it`s also very moving to hear from strangers. Knowing that you have support from the public is very positive for morale. Knowing you`re still in the minds of those very people you protect is so important. Carry on doing what you are doing for your brave military guys and gals. They need and appreciate it. | Posted 2 months ago seebee great group. When I was in Iraq in 2004-05, our squadron was adopted by a small Texas town that one of our members who had to stay back here was from. We received a letter or picture from all the kids in the schools K-12. My daughters corresponded with a few of the girls their age after I got back and me and one of my Airmen organized to write all of the kids letters back thanking them. Since we where over there during all holidays it was a great gesture and we were very thankful to the mom of our collegue who organized it all. Certified wiseacre. Proudly serving since 1986.

| Posted 2 months ago First, want to apologize to the people who IM'd me and asked for address information.... Haven't been on for a few days due to some mission responsibilities... but have now got some addresses and names forwarded. Thank all of you for your participation in this group and dedication to help take care of those who put their lives on the line to defend our freedom. I will attempt in the future to get those addresses to you in a more timely manner. Also, if you are a deployed troop, please IM me your address and a few names of your fellow soldiers, marines, airmen, or shipmates that could use a pick me up care package or letter.... This will only work if we all work together! Thanks! Seabee |

| Posted 2 months ago GROUP UPDATE: I deliberated the idea of sending via PM... but decided that this was the best way to handle this message... keeping those who remain active in the group advised while those who joined to take part as they chose, could do so at their leisure. This group has now topped the 1400 member mark! I remain astounded at this growth, but again never surprised at the resolve of the American people! The information being passed throughout this group is more than I could have possibly anticipated, and stand proud to be a part of this wonderful group of people. So, Congradulations to all our members! We are growing and growing for a justifiable and worthy cause! Jerry
by the way... my magic number is now down to (5)!!! (KeenEagle you know my count down rules!! smiles) And can't wait to get back to US soil and have a warm conversation and cold drink with all of you! |

| Posted 2 months ago For those of you who may not have noticed: Keeneagle has graciously accepted taking over the admin duties on this group. He has been a stauch ally with it's start and growth, and my going to him for assistance in watching over the masses only made good sense. So with that said, Welcome Keeneagle! and keep the trolls off the bridge! |

| Posted 2 months ago Welcome Keeneagle. I am sure you will do a great job. "Go on, then, in your generous enterprise with gratitude to Heaven for past success, and confidence of it in the future. For my own part, I ask no greater blessing than to share with you the common danger and common glory ... that these American States may never cease to be free and independent." --Samuel Adams |

| Posted 2 months ago Just dropping in to share. My oldest grandaughter will be 8 y.o. in 2 months. Her grandfather and I met while on active duty in Germany in the late '70.s. She has grown up hearing all the "war stories" and gets such a kick out of the fact that she can tell her friends her grandma wore combat boots. She is going to start writing the troops overseas, she tells me,. because she says she hopes that someone was writing to me and grandpa when we were there. As this little cutie pie puts it, she wants to write to someones dad/grandpa. mom/grandma. Even though I am too old to re-enlist, the thought and wish is always there that I could. My little girl just reminded me of how proud we all are/were, to have served, and our children and grandchildren are why we did/are still serving. God Bless |
