| Posted 3 months ago Not sure how to answer seeing as all the facts are not here. Sounds like a TV show more than an actual event. Facts such as how do you know they topped out at 70 mph? Why were you stopped? Did they see you? How were they "racing"? Can't tell if this is the real deal my friend....... |

| Posted 3 months ago the reason how fast they were going is i use to work on all types of cars and yes even a few police cruisers too and and the bridge they were racing on is almost 2 city blocks long .And its deserted at night or early mornings so there is almost no traffic out. I saw them racing on the bridge while i was walking to the all night open gas station so i do know some facts so what would you do now?

| Posted 3 months ago If this really happened..... then write a letter or file a complaint with proffessional standards. I don't advocate complaints on officers but don't know what else to say. Sounds a little unlikely to me but what do I know. |

| Posted 3 months ago Jvink, The bridge my husband is speaking of is the Utica St. Bridge in Oswego. It is unbelievably congested during the day because the 104 Bridge (Rt 104 or Bridge St) is undergoing an extensive renovation. But at night there is hardly a lick of traffic save for the occassional midnight trip to the emergency room, or a group of college kids riding around, etc. In fact you COULD say it is nearly deserted at night. I usually am the one who does the walking to and from the gas station, but last night I was so out of it, from being sick and tired, no one could wake me up. Until I woke up a couple hours later and realized my husband STILL had not got back from a walk that should have taken 45 minutes to an hour tops. And it is that time of night when they usually fly down the bridge balls to the wall. (Normally with lights on and sirens going.) I have not known my husband to lie, especially not when it comes to being stopped by an officer. Now, I did not personally witness the exchange between Tom and the police officer in question, but still... it makes me sick to think that someone who is supposed to uphold the law would go around breaking it and then intimidate my husband with threats of arrest if he did not remain silent about the matter. We have done nothing but respect and cooperate with the police here. But when one or two commits an act that threatens public safety where does a concerned citizen draw the line? P.S. if the police officer had lost control of his car and hit and killed my husband I would be suing the bejesus out of the dept and the city.

I concurr with jvink. File a complaint, or move on, it's your choice. There is nothing that can be accomplished unless you get involved. I can see two officers drag racing, I find it a bit unusual that they would stop, detain, and threaten anyone who saw them. The best option for the officers would be to simply continue on thier way. To stop and threaten a witness would only insure the witness could identify the individual officers. Instead of reporting two police cars speeding you now can say it was officer X and officer Y. Seems like there is probably more to this story. |
