I was called to one of our local gas stations last week.  refernce an employing having trouble with her health. All I did was call an ambulance and kept her talking, she was having a diebetic problem, i got her to drink some juice got ahold of her parents got her to the ambulance, that was it.  the other day my son stoped in the gas station to get fuel and was handed a card.  I read it it simply said good job we appreciate all you do.  Thank you.  That was one of the nicest things I have gotten.

Several years ago I responed to a prowler call, it was late at night. and the complainant was an elderly lady..When I arrived I made contact with her she had to have been in her 90's..and scared to death...I then did the normal checked around her house but could not find anyone. I then went backed and talked to her for a few minutes and calmed her down and I went back in service.  A few days later I was dispatched back to her house....When I arrived she came to the door with a fresh baked pecan pie....She handed  it to me and said this is for you, for being here the other night......Not to long after that she passed away.....I will always remember the smile on her face as she handed me the pie...

Well I just graduated Wednesday but I already got one. A classmate and I while in uniform went to pick up her daughter from school on Friday and just seeing the admiration in the eyes of all those kids really made the 6 months of academy hell more than worth it!

It is amazing how much a simple "thank you" means.  We don't do the job for the rewards, we do it because we believe that it is the right thing to do with our lives.  So when our work is appreciated, it really lifts the spirits.

I had a lady stop me in Wal-Mart a while back. the last time I saw her was when I notified her of her son's death in a car crash. She thanked me for being so nice and staying around to help her call some family to come sit with her. I hate making "the knock", but I was happy that she didn't run from me like all the others do.

My day begins when yours ends.

I'll never forget the first time I went into a local fast food place for a bite, and caught the look on this little boys' face when i walked in.  He was about 10 years old, and you'd have thought Batman walked into the place.  I remember being that kid.  I was right behind him and his mom at the counter, and when it was their turn to order, I said "Whatever they're havin', I'm buying".

Oh, and this Halloween, if you see a little boy (or girl) dressed as a cop...let 'em say something on your P.A.  They LOVE that!
