Hurricane Hanna
Posted 2 months ago The hurricane will be here soon. Shelters are already open and people seem to be prepared. I don't consider this much of a hurricane, but the electric company said that power will probably be out for a couple of days: "...a multiyear drought in Virginia could cause weakened trees to snap or fall throughout the electrical system in our area." The news shows trees down and some people without power (just south of us) but Hanna hasn't hit this particular area yet. The Peninsula, which is a multi-city area, has not forgotten Hurricane Isabel, which left this area without power for about three weeks, much the same as Rita affected Liberty County when I was living there. Therefore, no one here is taking chances. It's a good day to stay inside, watch the wind, and get some much-needed work done inside the home if you can. If you have to go out into the storm, stay safe. We have some strong gusts of wind! "Courage is endurance for one moment more." |
