Posted 2 months ago All weapons and uniforms are issued by our department. As pointed out before, departmental and county liability plays a big part in that decision.

Posted 2 months ago I work for two departments. One issues, one doesn't. The one that doesn't is kinda picky, though. They have to inspect and approve whatever you carry, which is good. Liability and all.

| Posted 2 months ago Purchase our own from an approved list. The list consists of Glock Model 22 or 23 for uniform carry and 27s for plain clothes.
If it's not their gun, they can't get sued if we shoot someone while we're off duty. FORMERLY KNOWN AS wgipson1073.

Posted 2 months ago We provide our own weapon out of our pocket -- which is fine with me as I carry a wheel-gun by choice. It wasn't until I went full-time that they even provided the ammo to qualify with. (Qualify, but not practice.)

Posted 2 months ago My department gives you the option of carrying your own firearm if you so choose. If you decide on carrying your own it must be approved by the Chief and you must qualify with it as you would anything else. Our department issue firearm is a Smith & Wesson Sigma in .40 S&W (JUNK). Only one guy in my department carries the department firearm. I carry my Glock model 21 for duty. WHO'S IN CHARGE OF THIS MESS???
