Hello,

My family and I are going on a trip to Rome in Feb. If anyone has any hints or advise please let me know.

Thanks

Watch your purses & wallets near any of the tourist centers! They are known for pick-pockets - Had a friend of mine lose his wallet near the "Forum" I was there years ago - Visit the Vatican Museum & tour Rome by night! Also take a tour of the catacombs & Nero's Palace (Which is underground).

You can walk the Appian Way. the place that Spartucus and his men were crucified. Of course the colosium is a must see. Get on a bus and see where it takes you. Get off the beaten path and see Rome like the people that live there see it. Eat in an authentic trattoria rather than some fancy resturant that caters to tourists. Second only to Venice, it's my favorite city in the world.

I'd strongly recommend buying Rick Steve's Italy guide book. The other guide books are very dry, have too much useless info, and are too big & bulky to carry with you. We've been to Italy 5 times, and used his book every time. His recommendations are right on the money. I know this probably sounds like a commercail for his book, but I'm not associated with him in any way. Have a great trip!
