Posted 2 months ago Greetings all! I used to run often and loved it but over the years I've gotten away from running or even working out much. I want to get back into a regular workout program but I'm looking for an effective workout that I can still do with my long hours. I first want to fat burn and lose weight and I have a decent treadmill and some free weights. Any suggestions? | Posted 2 months ago If you've got a few hand weights and a decent treadmill you have it made for what you want to do... well at least a great start to it! Warm up with some light weights; curls, shoulder press, bench (or floor if you don't have a bench) press and flys, push-ups and crunches. Once you've got a decent little warm up going on, hop on the treadmill for a 5 minute run (for starters). Take the run longer as you can up to 15 minutes. Once you're doing that, try switching over to a circuit training regemine. Run for 2 minutes and then do one minute of light curls. Run for two minutes and then do one minute of light - moderate bench press. Run for 2 minutes and then do one minute of flys. Continue going through various light - moderate weight training movements interspursed with short runs. This gets you going aerobically, and anaerobically. This along with a reasonable diet will have you dropping weight and toning up in short order. I'd say that within 12 weeks (yes, you have to go through ALL 12 weeks to hold me to this |

| Posted 2 months ago dches, That's a great point. Gotta make it enjoyable. When the changes start occurring it does become more enjoyable all on its own, but getting into the habit of eating well, working out and adjusting schedules can be tough if you're not motivated. Music, TV, a book-on-tape... things like that can keep you going and have you through your work-out before you realize you're sweating. |

| Posted 2 months ago Great advice! Take it from a been there done that person, you will succeed if you are committed. I was once a stranger to exercise, then I joined the Army National Guard and a new lifestyle was introduced. I was in tip top shape, then I got injured and in short order fat and out of shape. When I had enough, I joined a weight loss support group (WW), lost fifty pounds and got back into shape. Unfortunately several things have caused yet again a couple of relapses, but I'm back at it again and am loving it. The Personal Trainer course that I took has given me more ammunition to fight my way back to being my fit self again. This time, I'm taking a new attitude along... "It's my turn!" My point? Don't get discouraged and keep forging ahead. A cardio surgeon friend once said to me "your family (hubby and six kids) needs you and you need to be healthy for them." Wow! That sure got me steered in the right direction. One thing my husband introduced me to is: www.mydailyplate.com. It is a Live Strong partner. For basic features, the membership is free. Along with several other features, you can track your daily food intake and exercise. If you decide to join, you can add me as a friend; my profile name on there is LivTooley. Two final things: It is important that you have a support system of other like minded individuals to help keep you motivated. GOOD LUCK! Olivia (Mrs. MHP110)

) you'll be seeing a good change. I always recommend that you measure, weigh and photograph yourself before starting and then put that information away under lock and key until the end of your initial training time. At the end of 12 weeks of following this relitiously, then pull it out and measure, weigh and photograph again. I'll bet you a power bar that you'll like the difference that you see.
