Posted 2 months ago Most likely, they are civilian base police series 0083. With a few exceptions, (i.e. Pentagon) civilian base police do not derive their arrest powers from US Law, but they have the same arrest/apprehension authority, as directed under the base commander, just like a regular MPs. Federal Police Agencies such as US Mint Police, US Veterans Affairs Police, US Capitol Police, US Parks Police ect.. get thier arrest authority from US Law. There is a continuing arguement on PL on whether or not Military Civilian Police are covered under HR218. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't can't say.

Posted 2 months ago The KS National Guard Police were formed to provide security and law enforcement to all KS National Guard properties and personel anywhere within the state or "where ever they may be deployed". We have been told we are a pilot program and similar depts. may be created in other states. We are commisioned and paid by the state and are certified state LEO's. We provide gate and facilitys security utilizing non-sworn officers( Resource Protection Officers) and back them up with Commisioned LEO's.

Posted 2 months ago BrenAS, To answer your question, YES, a majority of military bases (All Navy bases in the Southeast Region) have ocntracted with a private security company to provide physical security of the installation. These officers have no GS rating as they are not federal employees, rather they fall under private contract. Each guard is sent through both level one and level two training at their respective bases and are taught by military police training officers as well as the civilian guard training officer assigned ot each base. These security officers have the power to temporarily detain anyone on base as deemed necessary and are turned over to installation police for further investigation. If I have offended anyone, so be it.

| Posted about 1 month ago I can only speak for the Air Force as a former Security Forces member. Our civillan officers do not have the authority to apprehend anyone. They can detain a person until Security Forces arrive on scene and thats it. I was kinda torn about that. Some of these guys are former LEO but most just wanted to play cop. I all ways responded out there when they had a problem and I treated them like LEO's. For the most part they where an asset and I enjoyed working with them. Cory D Pinkston

Posted about 1 month ago Most federal Army installations have gone to Department of the Army police, who are civilian police officers with police powers on post, and work for the provost marshall. They are apart of the larfer DoD police. They have no police powers off of the installation they police. In Texas, the National Guard posts use contracted security guards, not DoD police.
